We need Omar Epps. It's been a while but maybe he's healed from that devastating leg injury by now. He has basketball in his veins. His pops was a lying cheating b*stard but he passed on some great basketball genes to his son. Plus his wife is a baller too and she's a fox. Would certainly add some beauty to the Toyota Center crowd. Make it happen Mouree.
If we re-acquired Omer Asik, he just might jump off the back of one of those Mississippi River steamboats and get churned up into meaty froth. Chum. Let's not have that.
But, what are the Pels going to do with Asik? Are they just going to have him sit on the bench and collect his millions for another two or three years? The Pels have Asik and Ajinka eating up about 15 million of their cap space.
No one in the world needs Omer Asik, especially not a team that is already winning 70% of its games. Even if we send them Brewer and Ennis only, they need to pay us in picks or young prospects to take that guy's contract. He has 2 guaranteed seasons after this one. He is worth no more than $6-7m under the new CBA. He makes $10m+ for the remainder of his contract. Please don't give me that "but under the new CBA" bs. He's not worth more the average salary, and the average salary is around 7-8m. He is well overpaid because he is a fast declining player, and there are 2 guaranteed years on his contract AFTER this one, and THEN one more year which we have to pay $3m to waive. He's a negative asset like Corey Brewer, his better production offset by his higher salary and more years. And he's 30 and even slower than before. And he's only ever going to be a part time backup. And he can't hit FT's. And even his FG% is down this season. Good defender, good rebounder. But if they are willing to compensate us with Frazier and Pondexter - two guys who can fill 2 more needs - then sure, we'll even throw in a 2nd. They need to give us Asik, Pondexter and Frazier for Brewer, KJ, Ennis and our 2nd rounder. They would normally have to attach a mid first rounder just to get back any expiring contract or a TPE for Asik. I don't see them doing this though. They are in it to win this season. If Asik is a decent backup, they will rather use him as a decent backup than bleed any more young assets or rotation players. More likely they trade Ajinca who won't cost them anything to dump.
I still like big clumsy Oaf-mer Asik. He played REALLY well his one full year as Rockets starter. (That was a quick 4 seasons ago) TOO well, cuz that CONTRACT now is very avoidable, if not THE worst center contract in the league
Only way he comes here if he is stretched. Possibility, but other bigs prolly are traded for this to occur. He isn't going to sign and not play.
