I like WIlson Chandler. Just depends what we need to give up. He is shooting 34% from 3 this year, how much is that worth?

Dekker is shooting 32% from 3. Not that I wanna give him up for Chandler(I want both here), but if Dekker can contribute as much as he has despite not being a deadeye long range shooter, then so can Chandler.

Yea, I am not nearly as sold on Chandler as some of you.

People need to realize that our next move is probably our final big move for the next 3-4 years. It needs to really cement us as a contender.

If we are going to make that big move at this deadline, I would prefer a Tyson Chandler or Gallo. I think both are better than Chandler.

That's is a strong package for a player that upgrades brew's spot in the rotation. While not the scorer dano is, brings tenacity on the d side as well. I wouldn't be disappointed with dano or Wilson. Both upgrade the brew slot.

Final big move for the next 3-4 years? nah. They'll have more options down the road. Things change.

    I'd do Bima's trade.

What part of Bima's trade proposal makes it a "big move."

I'm not super excited about Wilson Chandler either, though I do like that he's a guy who can help this year and would be a positive asset, thus easy to move if needed for future deals.

Yeah, being under "team control" for next year is really a MUST if the Rockets are going to move a 1st rounder.

I am not moving a 1st rounder for guys like PJ Tucker, Thabo etc that are going to be UFAs after the year and there isn't anything to show for them.

It's not even just that he has team control, it's that he has a reasonable salary and is a pretty good player, even if he isn't anything special. If for example Gordon Heyward wanted to leave the Jazz and join the Rockets, I don't think you'd have any problem moving Chandler for a pick to some team and not taking back any guaranteed money. Teams will want him on their roster.

No question. Morey knows the "market" and doesn't have a problem taking on salary (as long as he knows he can get out of a deal down the road by reading the Market right).

Right now we are floating in zone where we are about halfway to max under the salary cap for the next offseason.

We could theoretically dump all our non guaranteeds and Brewer and clear up the space to get a decent amount of cap space, like ~20m to spend on one more significant piece, like a Gallo, Patterson, Ibaka, someone of that caliber, depending on what kinda money. That includes ridding yourself of KJ, Ennis, etc.

Making a trade now, for a guy like Chandler basically accomplishes the same thing.

My point is, after your next move, you have pretty much exhausted your means to add a "significant" player. Sure you will have a little money to spend, but its unlikely to be for anyone significant or super impactful, so you need to make sure this "final" move gets you to a level you are comfortable with for the next 3 or so years.

For me, Wilson Chandler doesn't add all that much. If we are going to trade for a piece, I would go for a guy who provides us help where we are weak, defense and rebounding. That person is Tyson Chandler.

Well yeah it's not an amazing offer but I think the market has been set for these types of players with expiring (or near in DMCs case) contracts that are aging yet still want a bazillion dollars in their next deal.

Don't think they're going to get great offers.

They can do what the Rockets did last year with Dwight and just keep him and let him walk for nothing at years end. Minor salary cap implications aside it would have been nice to have whatever pick they could have gotten for Dwight and a player of Harrell's upside potential. I suspect they would keep him.

I just don't think DM is going to move a lot of valuable assets. Just fringe assets.

Chandler rebounds and plays better D than Anderson and Decker at a better clip than Gallo and in the playoffs we are going to need a backup 4 that can contribute.

Exactly right. The salary cap and the length of these recent contracts we got ( Anderson and Gordon ) means that we are much more inflexible than we are used to being.... but that's ok if you think we are going to contend. Typically, good teams have to spend money and be up against the cap.

I think our best space to operate in might be to be over the cap and be able to use the full MLE to add to what we can pick up this deadline.

Bima's offer of Brewer + KJ + 1st or 2nd(s) I hope is on the table for either Wilson Chandler or Courtney Lee.

I would certainly be excited about either trade.

Edited because you addressed my main points against why we're not locked in. I still disagree with the premise, but I see your point.

Courtney would be ok here, but his contract is too long and he basically play one spot, Chandler can play three spots here and has a better contract so yeah...Wilson = ok...Lee = not (imo)
