big trade for nop but they still actually need a legit wing player to be taken seriously. just 3 and D wings aren't going to cut it at the 2/3. Holiday is nowhere near enough at pg especially by himself. He's not that type of caliber player. solid at best

The thing that will be remembered about this by players: Don't be a knucklehead. If you don't straighten up you could end up like Cousins, traded and missing out on 30 MILLION dollars.

Exactly. We are the team NOBODY wants to play coming off the all star break.

Well, aside from the Miami Heat. I'm pretty sure they don't mind playing us.

My bad, didn't hear about Hield being included and really don't know much about him.

If Hield was worthy enough to let Cousins go, then I stand corrected

100% agree. they have a legit big 3. at least they're sandbagged by asik/hill/moore's contracts. all signed for 4 years at a total of 29M per season. They've also gotta give holiday a raise this summer if they want to keep him. He's making 11M and they are now only 13M away from LT line. if all of that money goes to holiday, they will have to go over LT to give DMC a max contract. he's only making 16M now.

they can't even get out of asik/hill/moore's contracts because they have no other trade assets. maybe if they trade frazier they would get out of moore's contract... i can see a team desperate for PG help doing that, like the bulls or the sixers. but hill and asik are there to stay.

without being able to build a surrounding roster of affordable role players on rookie contracts, they will end up either deep over the LT line (which i doubt they want to do because they aren't the knicks/lakers), or they simply don't build a decent supporting cast. even lebron/wade/bosh didn't win their first year until miami built a bench in year 2. same in cleveland when they first got lebron/kyrie/love together. they might make the playoffs and even win a round, but they wont be real contenders unless they somehow get out of hill/asik's contracts in the next year or 2.

    Yep.

Per 40 min it's pretty different.

    Stauskas 13.3 / 4.1 / 3.3
    Heild 16.8 / 5.7 / 2.7

Once Heild catches up to speed of the NBA, much different player to NS.

McLemore, Collison, Koufos could be had for literally just Brewer and international guys who will never come to NBA

What I find more telling is that none of the other teams with the assets to easily beat the Pelicans offer choose to stand up and make the deal.

Boston has been trying to trade for a star for years, as has Dallas and other teams with strong assets. Yet none of them pulled the trigger.

The return for Sacramento isn't very impressive at all.

A Cousins and Davis front court at first blush doesn't work, but Davis is perimeter oriented enough that it might be able to work. Someone is going to have to defer though.

The entire league has gone small. NO wasn't going anywhere acting like everybody else. Maybe doubling down, and punishing teams with 2 of the longest baddest mofos in the league is the perfect formula. You can pull one away from the hoop, can't pull them both.

I don't think it will work, but what the hell. As gambles go, this does seem like a worthy one for an otherwise rudderless franchise.

Well I'm late to this party.

While combining the best power forward in the game with the most talented center in the game seems pretty appealing, the league has gone in the direction of one big surrounded by four shooters. I'm doubting this combination can work in the modern NBA unless AD can become a modern stretch 4. If he can they could be devastating.

If it doesn't work one or the other of them will be leaving New Orleans in free agency just as soon as they can. And that's the most intriguing part of this deal to me.

This is crazy, and it will work since they're both versatile and can space the floor. They're going to be a horrible surprise for the Warriors/possibly San Antonio in the first round. The Southwest Division now has 4 of the top 10 players in basketball.

The league hasn't seen two bigs paired together like this since then where they don't exclusively rely on guards getting them a shot. It can work potentially, so long as they get an actual wing player or two. So we'll see how that goes.

    Cousins is a stretch 5!

This will be an interesting experiment. A modern twin towers.
