Forget the tanking for Embiid, Saric and Simmons "that anyone can do" (even though they don't) He also got Laker's pick this year (unprotected next year), Nik Stauskaus, Sign TJ McConnell for 3 years at bargain contracts, rights to swap picks with Kings THIS year, and another unprotected pick of Kings for 2019 for Michael Carter Williams (the ultimate sell high) and basically cap space. Hinkie also got both Noel and their own pick 2017 back by trading Jrue Holiday. I don't want to hear how Bryan Colangelo now has it bad due to Hinkie with his glut at center and thus have trouble making good moves. If he end up messing this wealth of assets (and don't do a good Okafor deal), he's gonna be more hated in Philadelphia than he was in Toronto.
Colangelo can screw up and he will still be fine because Hinkie left him a treasure chest. Embiid, Noel, Simmons and whoever they pick this summer in the lottery will be an insane core and he can convince an FA guard (Jeff Teague? George Hill?) to come on board, they will be competing for home court in the East imo.
Yeah it was pretty crazy how Sixers mgt let him go the year Embiid blew up and all the assets Hinkie compiled became online. The biggest beneficiary of all these can actually be the Rox as they now have a chance to recruit Hinkie back into the fold.
yeah it puzzles me how hinkie is unemployed yet theres about 5 or 6 franchises continuously making puzzling moves. would love hinkie back.
Maybe Hinkie doesnt want the job anymore. I remember one guy started working for the Mavs but left in like 1 week and Rox hired him right back. I suspect Rox tried to get Hinkie back as well except Hinkie refused.
From what I read, he is currently under a no compete clause for a year, plus Hinkie could do better than coming back and be number two under Morey.
Hinkie put them under a 4 year no compete clause with an option on the 5th year. So maybe next year they'll be allowed to compete, or it might be the year after.
