Sure thing that he re-signs and that the chemistry isn't ruined. Chemistry is a real thing and you can't just throw players together expecting it to work right away. Boogie isn't completely absolved of his problems just because the Kings management is terrible. He has his character issues. Don't downplay that. Boogie working out in Houston wouldn't be a sure thing. It's not even a sure thing it will work out in New Orleans, but the Pelicans took the risk. People are hard headed or purposely don't read into things. Geez.
I do wonder if this trade doesn't set up a deal for Melo to LAC now. Similar type disfunctionalism, but with Melo being older than Cousins and having the trade veto, is there a legit argument that Rivers + Crawford is justifiable? Of course it's not a fair deal for NYK, but that may not matter.
No. An agent has a right to tell teams that their player will (most likely) test free agency. It's why teams were reluctant to trade for Dwight last season. Dwight was going to test free agency.
Of course. The report said they're working with his team to find a trade partner. It makes sense he'd want to find somewhere with more of a role, given NO's logjam at the 4/5. He's been quietly having a good season, so I don't blame him.
Right, they have the right to tell that to the team they're under contract with. My question was about the teams who might be interested in trading for said player. I don't think agents are allowed to talk directly to those teams but I could be wrong here. It just seems like this makes no trade clauses completely pointless when an agent can effectively tell trade suitors not to bother (not saying this is what happened here). I get it that rumors will go out, though. Sort of like when Houston tried to trade for Dwight when he was still with Orlando and rumors surfaced that he would bail on us if we traded for him. But, those were just rumors and didn't come from the agents mouth directly. I guess its a minor thing in the end. But it definitely effects the type of offers a team like Sacramento would get in a negative way. Just seems like they could have gotten more (not from us) but from another team. I mean, Cousins is maybe the best center in the league right now and Sac came away with scraps. Something fishy about it I think.
Just like the Ty Lawson trade I suppose. Every trade go wrong. I completely get what you saying, Harden needs a 2nd star though and am a big Fan of Boogie.
Reading about Kings telling Cousins he's not being traded.. That was smart of them. Maybe the only smart thing they've done in recent memory. Cousins and his agents would have done anything and everything to sabotage the deal. While I think Cousins can still mature into a top franchise piece, I think his behavior in the past made it so the Kings had the right to lie their ass off. They just wanted to get the best deal and get out. Honestly, good trade for all sides. Cousins' raw talent is worth more than the package, but his value wasn't going to recover in a toxic situation. You can't run a franchise while tip-toeing around issues with your franchise player all the time >> and that was the best case scenario. New Orleans are taking a risk, both with Cousins' temperament and with the risk of trying to make 2 star big men succeed in a guard dominated NBA. But NO was going nowhere real fast and as much as Davis was loyal to them, it was not looking good at the end of the tunnel. Now they are in the situation where they could change the NBA for the next generation, or they could fizzle out. I can't imagine trying to score on a defense anchored by Cousins and Davis. If those two guys get along, it's a real problem. Essentially they would be a souped up version of the most succesful version of the Grizzlies. That can work, if the personalities work and I have faith in Davis as a leader.
I wonder if Cousins knows he is the number two? If not this can go badly for the next 15 to 20 games as a power struggle could happen. But there isn't a team in the league who can match up w their front court now. Its the rest of the team that sucks I hope DM see's teams are making (big)moves, Melo is next We need to go after P George, NO was discussing him before pulling this off
No man come on. Capela and Dekker wouldn't net Hield alone. Nevermind adding the #10 and the #35 picks in an allegedly strong draft on top of Hield. Nevermind that any contract we send to them would be worse than Evans' contract. We had no chance. Would have loved to get Cousins, but we had no chance except if you gut the team and make multiple trades and write this season off completely.
Have you ever heard of Jrue Holiday? Have you seen the numbers he's been putting up lately? On BOTH ends of the court? Pelicans have a legitmate big 3 now.
Haha. I think we'll be ok. Let's examine the real impact this will have on clutch fans. Every time one of us wants to laugh at someone's trade idea from here on out, with us giving up very little and getting back so much, one must remember it took one young player and a mid 1st rounder to get Cousins.
Wow. I could see this working out well for the Pelicans. They have the frontcourt pieces to build an upgraded version of the Memphis Grizzlies model.
What is wrong with the Kings... ? Seriously, if someone proposed this specific Trade on this forum, I would've torched him...
