You understood nothing from my post. Please read again if you're going to quote me Also, you're wrong. The reason for this trade is not because Cousins wasn't willing to stay. But the first point is where you're more wrong
I have a hard time believing the Kings couldn't have gotten a better package even if he was just a rental. The only way this trade makes sense to me is if Cousins demanded Pelicans. If not about 20 teams could have beat the Pelicans offer, and I'm guessing at least 5 teams, including the Rockets would have gave up more even if he's just a rental with no guarantee on where he wants to go. Cousins had to have a destination in mind and NOLA was the place IMO. Buddy Hield is a 23 year old 6th overall pick in a super weak draft, having a mediocre rookie year. Him and a mid-late first rounder (Pelicans likely make playoffs this year) is what the Kings traded Cousins and Casspi for while EATING a 10 million dollar contract in in Galloway. That's a garbage deal. I find it hard to believe teams like the Suns, Rockets, Celtcis etc wouldn't have beaten that just for the rental and chance to convince him to stay with super max 5 year deal. I just think Cousins and his agent made it clear that New Orleans was the only place he wanted to be for this deal to go through without a better offer being made. Cousins and Davis is a MONSTER front court, the size, athleticism, rebounding, defense, shooting, inside finishing, post skills, passing from these two young players is just tremendous, both are from Kentucky and perhaps this is a duo Cousins really wanted to form. This front court will dominate, a lot of teams will not have answer for what they guys are about to bring.
I don't know, they are both very versatile bigs but I think this has a potential of flaming out. This is like Memphis frontcourt of Zbo-Gasol in their primes but minus a Conley. I will say they will be an interesting matchup for all the pace and space teams (like well...the Rockets...) and it would be nice to see a team become dominant with a Center and PF like that...
For everything we know/it's out there, they actually thought they were not going to trade him at all, what you're underestimate imo is that other teams weren't willing to trade good pieces for him since he's not going to commit for a new deal. We're still talking about Cousins being a free agent in 15 months here, i would love to have him here, i'm a fan of the player, but i think it's better to see if we can get him next summer eventually. The rest we'll see, maybe they'll be great maybe not, who knows, first time both Davis and Boogie will play real games next to another great player and in the same spot basically...
All i can say is that the Kings front office must've had a great time in New Orleans. They'll wake up tomorrow not remembering a thing..lol
So with the Cousins trade officially done with i guess its now all eyes on Jimmy Butler and the Celtics?
By the time Morey is done kicking his cans down the road Harden is going to be looking like Uncle Drew. I'm only half joking. Right now however would be the perfect opportunity to low ball the Kings for a useful piece. If they trade away Cousins for that then their asking price for other players cannot be high. McLemore and Koufus would be nice gets, if we can part with Brewer for either of those two I'd do it without hesitation.
Great, Rockets still get New Orleans three more times this year after a massive improvement. What tremendous luck with this years schedule.
Kings are the new 76ers. The money he and AD will amount will not allow them to sign anyone. This is more of a short term burst for the city to give them some hope and to show AD that they are not wasting his time.......until Cousins leaves this summer
Every Rockets, Grizzlies and Spurs fan should get a free ticket to kick Randive in the balls for this trade.
Rockets with Cousins=Championship contender! Rockets could've offered more then the pelicans. Even if it's just a rental still worth it!! Now our only hope is sign him in free agency!!
Pretty crazy, Pelicans suddenly have the best front court in the league. Wtf is wrong with Sacramento trading Cousins for that kind of package.
It's hard to describe how screwed the Kings are long-term. Almost unfathomable. Pick swap this year with the Sixers. Unprotected 2019 pick to the Sixers. No Boogie. Buddy Hield as their "centerpiece" going forward. Hardly any promising talent currently on the roster. Horrible owner. Horrible GM. Just unfathomably bad, even for how awful we already knew the Kings were. You would rather be in the Brooklyn Nets situation than the Kings situation right now, amazingly. There are only 30 jobs in the NBA. It makes zero sense how there STILL remain organizations who are just atrociously bad at their jobs. It's one thing to make a couple mistakes, but the Kings are aggressively stupid in nearly every scenario. They have set themselves back a decade.
Buddy is top 6 pick and showing flashes of being a young Harden. LOL what do you nean offer them more?
