While I think that equality is a good thing, I do not believe that created "gender" classes should be allowed to push their agendas on those who do not believe in them. It's like religion all over again. A person believes he/she is in the wrong gender and gets surgery to correct that, that's fine with me, but that person needs to realize such a decision comes with certain social implications and consequences that they have be ready and willing to accept. To try and force others to accommodate their decision is pure hypocrisy and cowardice to me. In that regards, I am fine with states/cities enforcing these types of bathroom bills.
It's not so much as the bathroom signs but the ability to enforce people going into their respective bathrooms would be my guess, though whether or not this will be actually enforced is a whole different story.
Spoiler: D&D response imo, it's actually worse than that. imso, it is a movement by States to have more power over Municipalities right to govern themselves. The NC bill is a movement by a Governor to overturn a City Council's ordinances...and outlaw ordinances. A major part of that bill has nothing to do with the bathroom issue; ie it establishing the right to overturn city ordinances at the State level. That is highly questionable thing....and my gut instinct is they chose a controversial topic in which to hide that main goal....such that this increased power of the Governor gets tagged along with a bathroom bill. When the Federal government attempts to do this to States, States get pissed. Sure, Feds can pass laws that all States must abide, but there is a limit to that power. I don't know why this topic isn't more about the sovereignty of Municipalites....and the Governor wanting more power.
The more they want to get into politics, the less I want to support the league. They need to stick to their lane, if they can't do that.....well, we'll see how it affects their ratings moving forward.
Nope, But why take the chance. Like I said when/why did this become an issue? Trannies have been going into womens bathrooms for yrs.
They did one helluva job avoiding politics versus that stuff the NFL did. Are you saying the same thing about NFL ratings, or just singling out the NBA, and giving NFL preferential treament? and fwiw: I think this is from the owners more than a few ppl in the league office. So, in that regards, the owners are saying it is a business of theirs. Not to say I agree or disagree, just that I do think this is from the owners.
Enough with the name calling, I just believe you were born with the anatomy you were born with and should go to that bathroom. Penis = Men Vagina = women And no, you're not going to talk down to me and think that's going to shut my wiews down So it's best that we agree to disagree and move on before this gets ugly.
Silver proving every day why he is the best commish in sports also, anyone using the "stay out of politics" argument is just dumb, plain and simple
Well NFL ratings did go down and IMO the politics that found it's way into the league is a big reason why. I mean, I'm not saying they can't do whatever they want with their league, I'm just saying that injecting politics into sports could very well turn a lot of people off.
Sure. Start your boycott now. (and that's just NC, good luck with all the Texas corporations) http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-north-carolina-lgbt-law-20160401-story.html
Off-topic...but how are they measuring ratings now? Do they have any way to measure illegal streams ... I'm talking live streams of TNT/ESPN/CBS etc that are carrying the commercials...not pirating NFL Game Pass. Just like any other viewership, they are being forced to see the sponsored advertisement. Seems the broadcast/cable channels can still sell illegal, live streaming as an ad view. sry to go off-topic, but who cares in this D&D thread.
Because everyone is entitled to weigh in on politics. Everyone and every organization has some involvement in politics and has the authority to speak to whatever issue they want. The NBA has the right to conduct their business any way they want and if they feel this would be a bad image for their organization (which it is), then they have every right to operate as they see fit.
OK. So also say the NBA did one helluva job avoiding the politics that the NFL displayed. Or do you just only criticize.
