Their looking out for themselves, Trump might just be a casualty. Or maybe they think their patriots who knows. What I do know is that Obama when harder than anyone in history after leakers and even the journalists. Maybe Trump should do the same just to calm this **** down. There is so much leaks right now that you can't tell the important ones from the noise. Americans will become desensitize if they're not careful and that would be a huge tragedy because leakers/whislteblowers are very important. But these leaks are like diarrhea now, making more of a mess instead of actually being useful.

So you have no evidence nor any motive for why the intelligence community would be anti-Trump. You're just making stuff up - which is fine. But just own up to that.

By the way, I didn't hear you complain about Clinton's emails being leaked to the press

I'm not making anything up. For example, "FBI has released nearly 400 pages of records on an investigation the bureau conducted in the 1970s into alleged racial discrimination in the rental of apartments from President Donald Trump's real estate company"
    http://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2017/02/trump-fbi-files-discrimination-case-235067

Comey and the FBI released these records just this afternoon. So yea I have clear evidence that they're just piling on. 1970s records on an open and shut case where no discrimination was found?!?! And just released this afternoon! C'mon man, now it's just obvious what they are doing.

I didn't complain about the email leaks because as I've said many times, leakers are important. But what's happening now, like I said, explosive diarrhea which makes the leaks less effective, too much noise. Usually a leak here or there, you now the leaker believes in something and is taking a risk and being brave. With all of these leaks, it's almost looks like folks are following orders and not being a brave solo leaker. The volume itself is shocking to the point that it makes you wonder if the volume of the leaks is more important than the leaks themselves.

As a candidate for president, Donald J. Trump embraced the hackers who had leaked Hillary Clinton’s emails to the press, declaring at a rally in Pennsylvania, “I love WikiLeaks!”

Ya liking those leaks now, President Trump? BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

you ignored everything I wrote. why even bother.

-edit- I love WikiLeaks. I think it serves a great purpose and an outlet for brave folks who live in fear of retribution from folks like Obama and Trump.

Oh, I'm fine with what you said. I have no ill feelings at all about any of the conservatives or even Trump supporters. I knew he was a disaster back when there were 17 vying for the nom, I knew he was a disaster during the debates, and I knew he would be a disaster after I got over the shock of him winning. It would be nice for Trump if he were like the Giants team that beat the undefeated Patriots- upset win, you're the champion, period. I'm sure that was Trump's sole focus.

Unlike that scenario, though, now he actually has to be intelligent and do his job. But he can't b/c he's not intelligent and I'm convinced he has no interest in the job.

I respect him for pulling off one of the greatest upsets in Presidential history. That's it. It has nothing to do with politics at this point. I actually hope all this ridiculous **** calms down and it's all about policy decisions. But I'm thinking this is going to be a scandal-riddled administration.

And I've especially had enough of this nonsense of, "Hey, we appreciate that he's outspoken and isn't afraid to be politically incorrect." Um, no, it's called being a decent, polite human being. All the decent people I know act nothing like him. And yes, that is very important. People really do look up to the President. He is a primary representative and spokesperson for our country. And he embarrasses us on the world stage almost every single day now.

It's their job to report the facts that they've collected, reviewed, and confirmed. The why is merely part of the story.

There were reports of this well before the election and it didn't phase the people that voted for him at all. It was written off as fake news...as does any other negative coverage of the current administration.

The right was willing to believe anything and everything negative about President Obama but all of a sudden dismisses anything negative about Trump. I'm not saying that doesn't happen in the opposite direction...it's just that you don't get to claim moral superiority when you're doing the same exact thing.

The FBI is legally required to oblige with the FOIA on non-classified information. It's the law. When someone makes a FOIA request to any gov't agency, they must abide by it. In this case, that is what happened - yes, someone is trying to embarrass trump, but it is not the FBI

Only a right-wing nut like yourself tries to spin that as the FBI trying to "pile it on" trump.

It could happen in some extreme scenario. I think that'd be politically very dangerous. A quarter of the country would be screaming bloody murder with conspiracy theories about how their electoral decision was subverted by a palace coup. If Trump has done something very bad, it may deserve death, but to avoid political disaster he should probably be pardoned instead.

I think you're right to be skeptical. I'm bothered that more of this didn't come out before the election. I'm disappointed Obama didn't go harder on retaliating against Russia and punishing the Trump campaign. But, I also realize that it would be a very dangerous political move that would be interpreted by many voters as an attempt to dictate the outcome of the election, and it could actually work against the cause of rooting out Russian influence. My working assumption is that they didn't use their assets, to use your language, because they thought Clinton would win and that interfering could blow up in their faces in a big way. So they are using their assets now to try to force an impeachment instead. That sounds safer and more appropriate to me than trying to sway an election. If a Republican Congress actually impeaches a Republican President, by god he deserves it. And it just puts Pence in the Oval Office instead of swinging power to the other party. So, like you, I've fretted about the timing, but I've come to different conclusions.

I also think you're wrong about the motivations of the NYT. Yes, the newspaper industry is under severe pressure as the old business model became obsolete. But, people really don't go into journalism for the money, especially in these high-minded fourth-estate bastions like the New York Times, where their influence likely strongly outstrips their pay. These journalists think they can change the world with their work. So I don't think publications like the NYT accept and publish these leaks because they want to stay relevant and perpetuate their existence. I think they do it because that's what they think is right and true (now whether they are right about what is right and true is another matter).

But wait, I seem to recall Trump thought he and the intelligence community were so into each other. From his speech at the CIA (when he wasn't complaining about the media and bragging about the number of people at his inauguration), he said:

I've find no record of who requested this info via FOIA. Trust me I looked, couldn't find it. It seems to be released without a FOIA request!! If you find it let me know but I haven't been able to.

Not actually useful? I think exposing treason, which is what I think went on during the election, as well as, apparently, after the election, is pretty damn useful.

I can't believe you think Trump and his team were in willful contact with Russian spies before the election. Give me a break, ya'll are crazy.

One large part of the puzzle that is missing is Trump's tax returns to confirm whether or not he owes money to Russian investment bankers.

Trump can end a large portion of the suspicions right now if he really wanted to and shut the mouths of many. Why doesn't he? It's a simple solution. It's not like presidents in the past half century didn't do it to so we know we aren't asking something completely outrageous from him.

Trump doing business with Russian businesses != active treason with Russian spies

    No...

Keep in mind that Trump burned PLENTY of bridges with American investment bankers. Hence why he utilized Russian investment banking. If he owes a massive amount to Russian investment bankers, that is a HUGE conflict of interest.

We need to know if he still has debt with Russian bankers and the MAGNITUDE of that debt.

Sure that's important to find out but that's not what this thread or folks believe. They think Trump and his team knowingly worked with Russian spies for reason yet unnamed.

I absolutely think that. Whether Trump was directly involved, who knows? If he was, it will come out. That members his campaign's inner circle were involved? Yes. I believe that. And how could some of his closest advisers be involved without Trump's knowledge? Flynn, who was reportedly in contact with the Russians about the sanctions before Trump was inaugurated, a violation of the law, and lied to Vice-President, may end up facing criminal charges. That's the man Trump selected to be his National Security Adviser. Think about that.

I just finished watching Trump's press conference, and to quote Jake Tapper of CNN, he was "unhinged" and spent most of the press conference attacking the press, rather than talking about his agenda. The leaks? He said the leaks were real, but the news about them was false. A statement that makes no sense at all. You can spend as much time defending your guy, Trump, as you like, but in my humble opinion, and with all due respect, you are dwelling in a fantasy world. So is Trump. During the press conference, he was clearly more concerned with himself and the bad press he has garnered, than the country. He berated several of the members of the press at length. It was bizarre. It's like he thinks running the country is no different than running a bunch of hotels and country clubs, and that if someone disagrees with him, he can simply fire them. It is different.

In other words a motive would be very important in forming a case and if Trump owes a **** ton of money to Russia, well then... There's the motive.
