They traded up for a receiver that can't catch but couldn't trade up two spots for a quarterback?

    This page would explode!

The point is not that someone would want Brock, but if it is possible under the cap rules would someone be willing to pay him for a year for a second round pick. He would probably be their back up.

In before "Should the Texans look at/sign Victor Cruz?"

Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan: Texans swing for the fences with a wild card in the first round. Peppers is a boom-or-bust pick.

    PATRIOTS

O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama: "Trader Bill" might bail out of this spot, but the Patriots could lose Martellus Bennett in free agency and Gronk's health has to be a major concern.

Doubt only one QB goes in the first round.

For sure, no matter how bad the QB class is, you'll find suckers reaching on them. I would think at least 3 go in the first....and hopefully the Texans aren't one of those teams. They need a RT more than pretty much any other position right now because if you don't have a line, pretty much no rookie QB can be successful.

Honestly, the only QB I want in the first is Mahomes.

    Otherwise, give me Bolles.

There's just so many moving pieces. With Quessenberry possibly coming back, Martin coming back, that could really impact the line. Because of those two, I wouldn't mind taking Mahomes in the first. Bolles intrigues me as well, and I love his potential to take over for Brown in two years or so, with a wildcard being a linebacker.

It's so tempting to draft TJ Watt because of his name, too. Of course you could probably trade up in the second for him...

Texans need to grab watson but do you think they have the assets to move up and get him before the jets?

Rooting for him but don't think you can count on Quessenberry, definitely not in a way that impacts roster moves. And assuming Newton will miss a significant portion, if not the entire season, think we need a OT somewhere in the first 2 rounds. Bolles is an intriguing prospect.

I wouldn't hate it if they traded up into the 2nd for Watt, I just don't have any faith in Q being able to get back even though I very much hope it happens.

My assumption is that Newton is completely done and will never return. Tearing both patellar tendons at the same time at 29 is about the worst injury he could have suffered.

Current Projected Top 51 Cap Space: $26.7M
    Draft Slot: #25
    Key Needs: OL, CB, QB
    Potential Cap Casualties:
The Texans will probably release a QB this offseason, but it's likely to be Brandon Weeden (QB, $2.125M), not Brock Osweiler. Look for Houston to also move on from Chris Clark (OT, $3.25M) who was a major liability in 2016.

    Offseason Notes:
It's tough to gauage the Texans 2016 campaign, who once again came close to breaking through - even without J.J. Watt for much of the season. Houston will likely draft to fix their O-Line, and should be pushing to re-sign A.J. Bouye (CB, 25), who is rising up the top free agent boards, and is currently projected toward an $11M+ deal. It may also be time to extend DeAndre Hopkins (WR, 24), who is set to enter a contract year in 2017, though the $15M per year price tag may prove difficult. Houston will also need to decide on the 5th year option for Jadeveon Clowney (OLB).

I can already see it. The Texans are going to pick up Tony Romo.

I wouldn't mind it but if they do they must beef up the offense line. Then next year get a young qb

It just seems like a typical Texans move. Another cop out move. I don't like it. The Texans should take the hint from Dallas and draft them a winner instead of picking up their loser. But of course the Texans are always looking for the easy way out.

If they take a hint from Dallas, they'll shore up the OL early and often.

Whether the Texans sign or trade for a QB, they still need to draft one within the first 2-3 rounds. Also, Newton will most likely be cut...he's done...and we need to draft a RT early in the draft for sure. QB and RT are my biggest priorities for this team.
