I think we can get Wilson Chandler on the cheap. I think his minutes can replace Anderson when his shot is off. As a matter of fact, I would like Anderson coming off bench to play with Gordon and 2nd unit.
After Kyrie Jabari and Ingram, I don't know if the old label of overrated can be used on Duke players anymore. There are just as many players that flame out from other programs as there are Duke. It's not easy to stick in the NBA. But as a former #10 pick (and considered to have fallen to get drafted there) from just a year ago, Winslow still has more value than anything we can offer. Harrell, a future first in the 25's, etc etc.
The thing about Winslow, though, is that aside from his age and draft position, there is little in his NBA data to suggest a very high upside on the offensive side. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/winslju01.html He is a plus defender, but not much of a primary scorer or a floor spacing shooter. Nowadays a perimeter player who can't space the floor effectively can really cramp a team's offense. So, what his he? A "3 and D" player without the 3? Tony Allen? Or maybe this other former top-10 draft pick from a highly regarded program? http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/breweco01.html
Its MKG. There's a roll for players like that and certainly som eupside that Orlandomight like but on the whole pretty uninspiring.
I disagree 100% , you have a player that in 2 years has shown no offense at all...that he has literally become a detriment to his team in that area...vs a guy that has flourished on both sides of the court. Draft order only matters on draft night...once a player has been in the nba for a couple years thats all that matters. I think a harrel/pick package is way more appealing to the magic....last thing they need is a wing defender what they need is someone with high upside on both ends.
This is the trade you pull if your houston, Magic wants young talent surrounded by Gordon. Houston needs a back up point guard, maybe a 1st/ 2nd round pick going are way. Watson would be a nice addition in the back court along side Gordon, gives him rest. Harden/Bev/ Watson Harden/Gordon Ariza/Chandler Ibaka/Anderson Capela/Nene/Ibaka If houston can somehow pick up Chandler for picks or throw in some Witjer/Ennis would be good deals. Thats a strong team who could beat anyone. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ju9lz7f
I don't think Riley will trade Winslow for Ibaka, they are not going to contend this season anyway...he should just wait and see what he can get this summer, there'll be better players than Ibaka available and the Heat are projected to have something like 50 if not 60M in cap space...
too bad he is on a steep decline and is maybe the most inconsistent player on this team behind Anderson!
Would the Magic even take Winslow right now? He recently had season-ending shoulder surgery. You'd think you'd want a healthy player in return for Ibaka so at the very least you know what you're getting.
I like the idea but doubt Morey moves Dekker unless he thinks there's a possibility of keeping Ibaka long-term.
I'd say yes, they're not making the playoffs this season and they'll probably be forced to some sort of rebuild anyway...and i'm not really sure what they can hope to take back at this point, i know some people don't think the same but Ibaka is not a star, he's going to get paid, there are/were rumors about his age (you can believe them or not, doesn't really matter -> unless you're 100% they're bs, they're still out there)...overall it just doesn't seem like he's worth a big risk right now...Stein said this yesterday: "Can the Magic get a first-round pick back for Ibaka from a team seeking a playoff-tested vet to add to its frontcourt rotation? Or a quality player under 25 a la Oladipo? Magic really screwed up on that deal with OKC. Should consider themselves fortunate if they're able to get a 1st back." ...so yeah...
