I think it's kind of cool that he and his team care so little about individual statistical achievement that has no effect on the wider team goals.
Yeah, other statistics-minded teams this stacked would be trying to break the record for most Wins in the season.
I'm so dumb. I had it in my head that he did it with points, rebounds, steals, and blocks. Maybe they should hire me. I got multiple sauces.
10 steals and 10 blocks in the same game would be amazing. I don't think that will ever happen in my lifetime.
There is stat chasing and there are historic marks. Imagine a player hitting 4 HRs in a game then deciding to sit out his last AB? He could have been remembered for the next 30 plus years on this stat line alone.
Do you realize how long they Warriors were mediocre to awful to build that? With the exception of the year they surprised the Mavericks in the 1st round, they were irrelevant for decades. That's how they accumulated all of those assets. Morey doesn't have this option because Les Alexander won't allow the Rockets to be a high lottery team. Morey has stated that tanking is the best way to build and we saw what his disciple, Sam Hinkie, did when he got a GM job. I have no doubt Morey would love to build a team that doesn't require a lot of trading, but that wasn't the option his boss gave him and he's done an absolutely INCREDIBLE job considering those limitations.
Curry the 7th pick Thompson 11th pick Green 2nd rounder KD a free agent. They just drafted well. Then you look at the TWOLVES and the Kings drafts and you see all the players they passed up and let the Warriors get.
Draymond Green almost didn't happen if Mark Jackson was still the coach and David Lee didn't get hurt. Remember, Jackson had David Lee starting and playing 35 minutes and Kerr was going to start Lee, except Lee got hurt and they didn't have any option to start anyone else but Green. Green is like the Lin story, except the Green story has been going on for 3 years, not 2 weeks. Now the Spurs....how they keep developing 2nd rounders and undrafted Free Agents??? How does the Spurs keep doing it???
Sure. There would be no shame in him going for it, from my perspective. But maybe he felt that going out of his way to score a few extra points, in a game where his team didn't need it, would cheapen the accomplishment.
