Dallas won't let him go that cheap. They will milk any team for as much as they an get, and a 4th round draft pick wouldn't be enough for them. Jerry Jones and team are shrewd, and they don't make stupid decisions too often.
Yes, we can hope to sign Romo for cheap, but there is no way in hell we'd be able to cut Brock. Brock is going to be on this roster next season.....come to terms with it.
Just because they WANT to get more than a 4th round pick doesn't mean they will. Which teams are close enough to a Super Bowl to where trading for a veteran QB is worth thinking about?? Houston, Denver, Arizona, Kansas City, perhaps the Jets, and the Bears (but those last 2 are just throw-ins for the sake of the discussion). That's about it. And not one of those teams is in a position where they'd be willing to part ways with anything higher than a 3rd round pick. You've over-estimating Romo's value on the open market, not to mention that Romo himself has a say in where he goes because of the relationship he has with Jerry Jones. There is no way the 4 teams I just mentioned would enter into a bidding war for a 37 year old, injury-prone quarterback. At least 2, and most probably all 4 would prefer to just draft a QB and try and develop him in-house rather than give up valuable assets. I think ultimately Dallas will be forced to either accept something like a 4th or 5th rounder for Romo, or just cut him outright.

I agree with that. He isn't worth that at all, and if we got him for 3 or 4 million, which I doubt, then who would we cut?
I know we can't really expect people to be rational when it comes to talking sports, but you do realize that if the Texans cut Osweiler it would be a 25 million dollar hit.....right? There's literally no chance that happens.
texans are NOT going to cut Brock. its cheaper to keep him for this year! yall have to at least understand that. any QB moves made this off season will be with Brock on the team. No other way to slice it
Are you sure that's the number? I thought it was five or six million more than what he was due, which equates to like 21 million. Five million more could be found with restructuring contracts, thus making it a possibility.
That's the number according to Spotrac, he's a 19 million dollar cap hit if you keep him, a 25 million dollar cap hit if you cut him.....meaning there's literally zero chance that he gets cut. There's a better chance that the ownership will tire of the Houston fanbase and announce a move to San Antonio than there is that Osweiler is cut this off-season.
What are the cap rules for a trade? Can you pay someone draft picks to take the salary cap hit like in the nba? If so offer up a second and Brock to some team with lots of cap space to take a one year hit. Use that cap space to to shore up your offensive line, sign Romo on the cheap and draft a QB if there is one that is first round worthy.
What good would that do us? We are paying him next year. They are not going to cut him. They would at least use him as one of our backups at 18 million.
Who in their right mind would waste their money on Brock, when he was almost dead last in the league last year? If they do, they shouldn't have a job as an NFL GM or coach. Unless, of course it is someone who thinks he only did horrible in Houston because of our terrible offensive plays, and that they can groom him and give him the protection he needs.

Would be pretty good, the Giants potentially save the Texans from themselves and the Texans get a tackle prospect with a very high ceiling to help make that O line better.
