The question wasn't is he any good if he is healthy, the question was can we count on him. I think we can't. He seems like a guy who suffers from depression and his motivation wanes from time to time. A lot of his injuries are things that can't be tested for and are completely random all the time.
can we really count on running our main guys into the ground? 2017 says no we cannot. homer rockets fans say yes we can! all in all, it dont matter. klay's still a better two-way guard then harden
This injured version of Gordon is different than previous versions. Previous Gordon had actual severe injuries, torn ligaments and broken bones sidelining him for months. Rockets Gordon is just worn, sore and strained from heavier use. Gordon hasnt had this consistent amount of games and minutes in a WHILE. Its natural he'd feel the effects As of NOW, we can count on him - IF D'Antoni keeps him fresh. The occasional "Nene plan" might work.
This is why I'm in favor of a trade for Ibaka AND signing Chalmers. Relatively speaking, I don't think you'd have to give up a TON to get Ibaka...and if it costs you Anderson, Ibaka can shoot 3's almost as effectively and is a huge component as the 2nd option on offense and as a rim protector. As for Chalmers, I think he would be extremely motivated. He would join the other Rockets players with Finals experience, i.e. Harden, Ariza, Ibaka (in this hypothetical), Brewer. Chalmers would reduce Brewer's minutes and provide a decent option if/when Gordon is out. You'd have a very versatile and explosive team that is very deep and talented.
Considering he started the thread which started this hilarious and stupid debate when there is no comparison whatsoever
We can always use another playmaker/scorer/3 point specialist. This is where the training staff plays a humongous role. They need to help keep Gordon ready for the playoffs. Coach will have to limit his minutes and play. Just like he does Nene. Come playoff's time we are going to need Gordon in a major way.
Trade for an undervalued wing or combo guard who can relieve some of the stress off Gordon, Harden and Ariza (McLemore, Hardaway Jr etc.) and sign Chalmers to a 10 day contract and see if he has any game left - then go from there. But it's Morey so nothing of any use to the team will happen. I want to be pleasantly surprised but I'm sure I won't be.
I'd have him on reserve for every game. If it looks like we need him then we put him in. Limit him to 15 mins per game. The only downside to this is... Spoiler
so not only does he not say it in every other thread, but you've never seen him say it ever? but i do say it not just on this site but others? oh btw, klay's a better two-way guard than harden /espn
Depression? Then give the man an SSRI and suit him up. 15 mil a year and our second best player. We are not going anywhere without him.
That was not the title, dude. Read it carefully, it was a mere Klay vs. Harden. Who is better suited for which style of bball? I won't say it again.
Funny thing, all debates of what kind of player is suited for which team ends in 'who is better on O, who is better on D'. The only thing I remember saying was Thompson's 3 pt is steadier and he has a quicker, more accurate release = steadier shooter.
Must sign a shooting guard and limit EG's minutes during the rest of the regular season. I want this guy healthy for the playoffs.
Someone floated the idea of signing Chalmers to a 10 day contract to see what he can do. I think he could help us make through the regular season while resting Gordon, and then serve as insurance for the playoff run.
Chalmers wanted a guaranteed contract from Cleveland, not a 10-day. According to a source, Farmar is open to signing a 10-day contract — as is Lance Stephenson — while a league source told ESPN that both Mario Chalmers and Kirk Hinrich would only agree to join the team if the Cavs tendered a guaranteed contract for the rest of the season.
Fair enough, BUT... 10 days playing for Mike D'Antoni (assuming you get off the bench) with James Harden passing you the ball could re-start your career. We should get a discount.
