I was at the Orlando game last night with my brother , and Morey happened to be sitting about 3 rows below us with what looked like his family . Anyway, some seconds before the fourth quarter ended I seen him and his family get up to leave before everyone else . I walked down and called after him shouting "Hey Morey! , Ibaka!" He didn't hear me the first time . So I said "Ibaka!" and before I could say it again he kinda chuckled and did some kind of pointing & wink thing and kept walking . Ibaka confirmed ?

Where in the articles does it say Boban should start over Drummond?

We wouldn't have to deal Ryno to get Serge, who is absolutely leaving Orlando this offseason if not dealt in a couple weeks. The negotiations will start with our 1st rounder and Harrell. Then we will beg them to take Brewer off our hands too

I've been on the Boban bandwagon for a while. Would be a nice addition and bring something skillset-wise to the team with his size.

He also is a 77% FT shooter which is nice.

Houston looked into signing free agent guards Mario Chalmers and Jarrett Jack but haven't pulled the trigger. With Harden taking over the primary ball handling duties, the Rockets want to add another ball handler to take pressure off him and Patrick Beverley, who moves to point guard with the second unit.

There is also some interest in Orlando power forward Serge Ibaka, who is apparently is on the trade block. Ibaka scored 28 points in 40 minutes in the Magic's loss at Houston on Tuesday night. Ibaka would bring a defensive presence and another shooter that could fit into Mike D'Antoni's offense.

I dont care for the other teams involved in your trade, I'd rather just keep it simple. If going for Ibaka, offer whatever it is that gets Ibaka only to them. Then offer something to Phoenix for Barbosa. I can't imagine him wanting to leave the place where he started his career, I feel like Phoenix is his book end. But no need to get Washington involved.

Ibaka is a funny case, I don't believe he will be moved until the 23rd when people are desperate because Orlando is going to milk everything they can knowing he's not coming back. I personally love the idea of Ibaka on the team, in fact it could make us the top dog in the West. Absolutely it could.

We imagine that right now the West is going through San Antonio and then Golden State. Ibaka matches up well with LMA.
ITS A TEAM SPORT but head to head Ibaka leads 13-7 after discounting games Ibaka didn't start.

At any rate how badly Terance Jones got worked by LMA has always scarred me. Seeing Ibaka having nearly double the head to head wins gives me hope.

Then Ibaka vs the Golden State Juggernaut is a weird thing to try to figure out. GS is a different team this year than last and they are loaded. The question is completely hypothetical, does Ibaka have a great impact in that matchup? Well, we don't know. Will they run Zaza out there to be matched up with Capela so Ibaka goes on Draymond or is Capela going on Draymond putting Ibaka on Durant? Ibaka has decent perimeter defense, but it's nothing extraordinary. I don't think anyone would give Ibaka the nod in an Ibaka vs Durant matchup. Ibaka vs Draymond I probably give Ibaka the nod because he can defend Dray all day and on offense he can shoot from anywhere on the court, Dray will have to chase him out to the line and open up the lanes for Harden to create.

But this is ALL hypothetical, we just don't know and that's why Morey hasn't pulled the trigger. If it absolutely made us the consensus #1 he would already be here. I think it definitely helps the S.A. matchup and definitely helps the G.S. matchup, but is it enough? Plus we have to somehow match salaries. That's going to be tough. We might have to give up a 1st to send Brewer there and Wiltjer+KJ too, then tag on a 2nd. A lot for a rental. However the worst case scenario is still us shedding Brewer, KJ and if we arent able to keep Ibaka then we've free'd up 22 million of cap space.

Then we have a hole at backup SF with Brewer being gone. Yeah, Barbosa could slide into that role greatly, in fact he's a perfect fit. What would we have left to offer Phoenix for that trade? Ennis? A young prospect...Barbosa is at the end of his career. He's not worth hurting the future of the team, Ennis probably isn't worth Phoenix's trouble. We might be better off using Dekker, who plays mostly the 4 IIRC, as a 3.

I personally believe we need to bolster the center position with a big who can finish lobs and control the paint. We don't really know what Nerlens Noel can do, he's been on a bad team in a team sport. I want to believe but I dont know if I can. Philly asking price might be too high. I think we are better served with Lucas Nogueira from Toronto. Harrell and Ennis for Noguiera and Caboclo.

Noguiera is 68% fg%, +28 net rating, legit 7 foot... I recently posted about him... he is perfect for the 1 big 4 shooters idea. Granted MDA isn't based around that idea, Morey has been.

Caboclo is nothing more than a prospect. Nene seems to like them both but it might be lip service for his countrymen.
    http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets...scusses-fellow-Brazilian-players-10844072.php

If all the trades went through (they wont) we would see something like:

    Harden*/Gordon*/Brown
    Bev*/Barbosa^
    Ariza*/Dekker^/Caboclo
    Anderson*/Ibaka*
    Capela*/Noguiera^/Nene/Onuaku

    *~30mpg ^~20mpg
When I look at it, it's a lot of changes but we are retaining every rotational player except Harrell. Harden, Beverley and Gordon can all run point or play 2 guard.

At least that's what i'm thinking today.

Aside from a tiny move, I dont think the Rockets are playing this trade deadline since Ibaka can be got in the offseason without giving up anything. The downside is we either win it all with what we currently have or we don't, and we are a 17 loss roster right now. Which is great, but is it great enough? We shall see. I think Noguiera could be the under the radar move of this year though.

As a “true analyst”, you made this statement, which I’m asking you to defend:

I’m not asking for an analysis of Andre Drummond’s game. I’m looking for a comparative analysis between two Centers. Neither article you provided references Boban, which is what I’m interested in discussing.

I did my research and found zero evidence to support your claim, which is why I would like you to explain to me how you’ve come to the conclusion that Boban is better than Drummond.

This is a forum to discuss and debate basketball, not spew claims and get defensive when people ask you to explain them.

    So, please….you have the floor.

Morey should sell the farm and make splash

Hou out: Capella, Montrez, Dekker, Brewer and a future 1st

    Hou in: Cousins and McLemore

Kings are wasting their time with Cousins. They get multiple young players and a first. Rockets get Cousins and become instant contenders, also get Cousin's bird rights. At this point, Cousins needs a change of scenery.

I'm not going to waste my time on this. Watch the games. Offensive rating. Defensive rating. On/off numbers. Post efficiency. FT shooting. The video is there. The advanced stats back it up. Drummond is a horrible rim and paint defender. Bogan far better. Not even close. Drummond drags down the whole offense with both poor interior efficiency and poor free throw shooting and poor passing. He has no vision. He's a black hole when he gets the ball. And he's simply not efficient. Boban doesn't have to even be very good to be better than Drummond. The one thing Drummond does do well, rebounding, Boban is just is good at.

That's all you get. I didn't pull that out my hiney.

    Do.your.own.research.

Rockets could trade KJ for Boban straight up.

    Good write up @kwakmeister

Imo if you acquire Ibaka, say for the cost of brewer/harrell/1st, you become that much more of a contender.

I think we can compete and have a 50/50 chance to beat the spurs in a 7 game series, although it's more likely favored in their direction 60/40. With Ibaka I think it makes us match up very well. And would give us the edge in the series. We beat them, it means we made it to the wcf which would be a hugely successful season.

Against gsw, I think he surely helps. He gives you some one who at least matches up with draymond respectably. Both are great defenders with the ability to stretch the floor (dray is significantly better defensively). He is the motor to that team Imo. You stop him and you get a punchers chance. But your still unflavored in this match-up 80/20 with Ibaka. To match gsw you need another great 3nD to match up on the perimeter.

I think Ibaka is a great fit for this offense and this defense. He can PnP, he can PnR, he can shoot the 3, he can catch lobs.

A 3 man frontcourt of ibaka/anderson/capela is very good and versatile. Any 2 could play together at any time depending on the match-up.

Does he win us the championship? No. He gives us much better odds though. And that is something I would take.

If you are able to trade brewer/montrezl/1st and obtain Ibaka that's awesome. Even if it takes rights to gentile and/or a 2nd than I would jump on that.

I would than basement shop for a backup wing who could fill in nicely for this offense. Kj for casspi is probably doable and takes the place of brewer/kj minutes.

Drop brown for one of chalmers/jarret

    Starters:
    Harden
    Bev
    Ariza
    Rhyno
    Ibaka

    Bench:
    Ego
    (Chalmers/jack)
    Casspi
    Dekker
    Capela

That's 10 deep rotation where each guy fits a role even though mda likely sticks with an 8 or 9 man rotation.

I see Orlando taking our 1st/Brewer/Nene/Ennis for Ibaka.

Salaries match up to -5,948 for Orlando so we provide some minimal financial relief.
We also don't have to give up Harrell

    Bev/Gordon/Brown
    Harden/KJ
    Ariza/Dekker
Anderson/Ibaka (or Ibaka/Anderson, DAntoni will figure it out) Wiltjier
    Capela/Harrell/Onuaku

For Orlando, they line up with:
    Payton/Augustin/Watson/Ennis
    Fournier/Meeks/Wilcox
    Green/Brewer/Rudez
    Gordon
    Vucevic/Hilario

They become perimeter heavy but they have out pick. There are plenty of PFs in the draft to play behind Gordon. They also have the 5th pick to bundle with ours. Right now the 5th pick will net Dennis Smith, the player that Orlando could use to leverage trading Payton if necessary. If they can move up to pick Jonathan Isaac, a 6-10 SF that has the length that Orlando has wanted on the wing, that should make them happy too.

Dallas has the 4th pick and needs talent, so picking twice in this draft makes sense for them to offer dropping down one spot to possibly fill 2 of 4 holes on their lineup. 2 of 3 holes if you think Yogi is a legit starter.

Since Ibaka has been from OKC to Orlando, I think that moving into a bigger market like Houston could persuade him to resign with us. I don't know about bird rights, or how much the max is for his years. Did anyone post that? I haven't read through 100 pages of GARM Trade Ideas...and I'm not going to.

With that ESPN report coming out Ibaka would be a great center here.
