I doubt the Tea Party/GOP freshmen protest about this.

    Such a waste of money.

The Department of Defense is seeking to rent space in President Trump’s New York skyscraper, Trump Tower, a move that could directly funnel government money into the president’s business interests.

The U.S. military agency is “working through appropriate channels . . . to acquire a limited amount of leased space in Trump Tower,” Lt. Col. J.B. Brindle, a Pentagon spokesman, told The Washington Post in a statement late Tuesday.

“The space is necessary for the personnel and equipment who will support the POTUS at his residence in the building,” Brindle said.

The space will be separate from the Secret Service detail that is routinely based in Trump’s signature midtown tower, where his private company, the Trump Organization, is headquartered and where he owns a lavish triplex penthouse.

give it a rest fools. there is such a thing as a western white house long before The Donald became POTUS. Crawford, Martha's Vineyard, Chappaqua, Santa Barbara or Century Plaza hotel, etc..., too many to list. find something else to b**** about.

I don't have an issue with providing necessary defense and comfort for the President and the first family. I don't have an issue with the added expense required to protect the FL and son choosing to live in NY.

It's a luxury building in the most expensive real estate market in the country in a heavily trafficed area. Just because POTUS owns it does not mean he should be allowed the free income. This will cost taxpayers at least double what any president has used before for their total security on their second homes. ($3 million per year in rent alone vs total $2 million GHWB needed for his security in coastal Maine for coast guard coverage). Then, there is the extra costs of securing the parameter which have been quoted at a million daily. Even if it's a tenth of this, that's millions of extra dollars spent.

It's not a large amount of money in the grand scheme, but it's a waste of money.

If Trump wants a western White House, it should be set up outside of NYC. Hell, he is already using Palm Beach as well which has similar rent costs but should otherwise cost less to secure.

*crickets*--that's the sound you'll get from conservatives that railed over Obama and The First Lady taking DIPLOMATIC trips and the cost to the tax payer. I remember Texxxy being on that vanguard. However, it's bad form that he profits from it but our b****ing about it makes no difference to the POTUS or his base who see this as "good business"...

Yes, it's expensive, but really, that's part of expense of government when we elected Trump. Comes with the territory. Not a big deal at all, unless it get abused.

But yea, if you once hate on this type of expense (well, much less expensive) from Obama, you are a hypocrite to turn a blind eye now - or, better yet, you wake up and realize it's not that big a deal... just don't go back to selective sleep the next time the other side is in the oval office.

Good luck with that, if anything, hardcore conservatives are mostly super hypocritical.

Sure but they all do it. There is no budget cap or anything like that. Also, he gave up his potus salary, the only one to do that I think. I know it doesn't compare cost wise but it's something. He also only had a few inauguration balls instead of the dozens previous potus had, which I think includes taxpayer money. the opulence of the potus position is less than he's used to so he isn't going to waste tax payer money in that way.

Trust me there is plenty to complain about, Trump wasting tax money isn't one of them. You can take my advice or continue to be perpetual outrage which annoys at least half of the country and no one will know when you are really outraged. or you can ignore me and millions of others and keep losing elections.

How much is president's salary vs blind trust other presidents have done? If you are going to do it, stop yelling corruption and integrity at every turn.

Wow u must be really smart. But you missed the point: the DoD is paying the president, because of the president's choice. When else has that happened?

You're ignoring me and that's fine. Continue your perpetual outrage even on the small things. I'm sure it will continue to work for you.

I am but apparently the left is not. They can become the Party of Outrage, let's see how that works out for them.

Neither of you should worry about being tuned out.

Actually, after 8 years of Fox News / Drudge Report / Limbaugh / Hannity et al, you seriously want to ask about the party of outrage and complaining about everything a president does?

Those are talking heads who get paid to do that, not citizen protestors. It's different but you don't believe so who cares.

Fox News is a MSM news source... compete's with CNN. "Fair and Balanced" I suspect you have heard of them. And Drudge Report is a news aggregater. Of course, they aggregate only right-leaning news.

But funny you think people should be less critical of the president than the news sources (ie Fox, Drudge, and talk radio shows) that they get their news (and in the case of conservatives) their opinions from.

Good job ignoring the point yet again: the DoD is paying a Trump company due to Trump's decision. Seems inappropriate. When has it happened before? You listed many previous presidential locations. No one is outraged, except by your fake honesty.

You can't forgo the salary, but others have donated it away. We'll see what he does to avoid the salary.

    Meh....

I thought it was absurd when Republicans complained that it cost $500 for President Clinton to get a hair cut, or complained that tax payers had to pay when Obama would take his wife on diplomatic trips. I really don't have a problem with $3,000,000 a year in rent for the President to have a place outside of D.C.

These people represent the United States, and they should look good and they should be afforded some luxuries consistent with the office they hold. These men are making decisions that have a huge global impact.... I want their needs to be met when they deliberate what they are going to do.
