I would like this trade. Portland would have to be rewarded for taking Brewer (probably our 1st rd pick).

    Bev/EGo
    Harden/Stauskas
    Ariza/Aminu
    Ryno/Nene/Harrell
    Capela/Noel.........reserves:Wiltjer/Brown.

Sign 3rd team depth (Keep in mind Ariza & Aminu can play SG,SF,PF) to fill out the roster.
Brown could get buy-out. Aminu may have found his 3-point range in Feb shooting 43.8%.

Portland loves the posting up center in Okafor.

    76ers would like Napier & SF's

Edited later: or perhaps structured as such (76ers need to add about $7 mil to get over salary floor.

I don't really wanna make a big shake up. But I do wanna get rid of brewer.

We need help at Forwards and I don't think a significant starting upgrade is available, because we are gonna have to ship out Anderson and that might reduce the fit.

How about a flyer on Jeff green ? he's been awful this year and wasn't great last season either . He has always been pretty athletic and a tweener that hasn't really figured it out. We might be able to land him for brewer and KJ and maybe a second rounder or something. He's a free agent at the end of the year so he's an expiring contract. It may be better to keep corey and KJ for trades in the future tho hahaha.

Unfortunately, I don't think we can do much to improve the team this season. My best move would be to try and snag a player with high potential that hasn't performed and hope that in a better environment they can at the very least become a solid role player and then maybe star.

We simply probably need more overall talent to compete the next few years.

Here's a funky one that has a slight shot. Add a pick going out from Mil and Hou to ORL

Mil would happily give up Henson and Thon Maker for Ibaka. Ibaka, greek, parker, middleton they could make some noise in the playoffs get that valuable xp.

ORL is a shitshow. They are trying to rebuild , but now it looks like both Gordon and Hezonjia might be busts. Jeff Green, who they brought in this year is a massive disappointment. They need talent they need vets they need everything and don't have a lot to get it with. In the scenario ive given, ORL gets young pieces in Maker, KJ, and picks. They get veterans who might fit and help them win with brewer and more notably Lee and finally Henson. He's redundant , but maybe ORL can move Vuc to PF or deal him for something nice. Like I said ORL is really in a shitty position. I think they also gave up a pick for ibaka. So picks would be huge for them.

NY has some nice pieces, but Melo and Noah are albatrosses. Rose at least expires. Given that they are New York and they at least have Zingis, maybe a FA will give them a chance if they can free up space. So they give up Lee who is a nice player for an expiring.

Hou is in a semi tough position of trying to add for both the present and the future. But due to salaries cant really make big moves ( I think). So to add a player with the potential of Gordon and Hezonjia is nice. Esp since we'd only be giving up brew/kj/pick.

So the question for ORL is how can they deal with the hezonia and Gordon problem and at the same time try and get something for ibaka so he doesn't leave them for nothing. ORL has vucevic, Fournier, payton, and Augustin as their only real players outside of Ibaka.

Maybe ORL doesn't want to give up on both Gordon and Hezonjia in that case , Houston doesn't add KJ to the trade and just gives them brewer ( I haven't tried to see if just KJ works ) we would still likely have to give up a pick.

ORL , MIL, and NYK can absolutely do this trade without HOU and it might make sense for them to do it that way. That is what could happen if ORL doesn't want to deal Hezonjia or Gordon.

Ibaka and Lou would address the team's two main weaknesses; interior defense and bench guard depth/scoring. If we add Ibaka/Williams, and somehow manage to keep Dekker for back-up SF/PF, we would significantly increase our odds of upsetting the Warriors/Spurs. I'd be happy to mortgage a bit of our future and lose summer flexibility for a trade like this that moves the needle. Otherwise, it's best to stand pat and wait for the summer. Marginal moves (eg adding a big like O'Quinn or Koufos) are only worth it if they are accretive to our total asset value.

Would love for this to happen but Philly's not giving up Stauskas, maybe Covington. And Rockets would need to give up 1st to get Noel. Where are they getting the other first to give Portland?

    This is a fun spin!

Philly definitely says no though. They are giving up Okafor, Noel, and Stauskas for Dekker/Harkless and....that's about it.

@FANfrom86toNow I don't really think we would be better. While yes we would have much more fire power offensively I don't know that we would be sitting where we are. We have won quite a few games this year because we hunkered down and played solid to great defense for stretches.

You start removing guys and adding guys you change the dynamic in this locker room. I think the biggest thing this year is the locker room improvement. It has been stated by multiple players and coaches multiple times how everyone has bought in and plays their role.

That being said. A 2nd for Nick young was worth it, but I can't recall if that was before or after the ego/rhyno signings. Also not trading brewer was probably not smart but I don't know how valuable he is in the locker room. And for some reason, despite sucking for 3 years, he has constantly earned playing time by each coach. That tells me he is some kind great practice guy / team leader.

I agree, I think Portland really needs to make some trades to shake things up and they just have not been mentioned.

Yeah, the Rockets are too successful right now. Morey is not going to break up the team in such a manner.

But @D-rock do you see the lineup Philly would have? Plus draft picks I'm sure. Sergio Rodriguez would
be able to play more backup SG behind Henderson. Battle for starter at SF between
Covington/Dekker/Harkless, (in one scenario). The vibe I feel, is Brewer would fit in well
with Portland. Sneaking in behind that 2-prong attack of Lillard/McCullum.

Simmons comes off injury for mins at PF along Saric and Ilyasova. Embiid would
be able to increase his mins with Holmes finally getting steady mins. Napier wouldn't need to play much
defense (because that's an issue with him). That team would probably win a high % the rest of the season.
    Their rookie PG shows promise.

Philly's problem is too much clutter at C/PF. Having to showcase them takes away from a real game plan
of just playing. Philly has to move Okafor & Noel to give mins for the others. & then the 76ers can
draft 2 more centers with number picks and start the stupid process all over again. Lol.

Portland fought hard for D12 this past summer. They would probably like to move Plumlee or
Meyers Leonard and have the inside presence (of Okafor) with the outside game of Lillard and
McCullum. I would move Crabbe to SF mins. They still have an abundance of PF's. With
Turner breaking his hand, they may want to make a trade of Festus, Meyers and/or Plumlee and possibly salvage the rest of this season while picking up draft picks. But, I digress.

Kevin Pelton: Five big NBA trades I'd love to see

    Casspi back to Rockets

Houston Rockets get: Forward Omri Casspi
Sacramento Kings get: Forward K.J. McDaniels

It feels like the Rockets could use one more wing, ideally to bump Corey Brewer out of their playoff rotation but also to provide additional cover in case of injury. Casspi was in Houston in 2013-14, before he developed into a more consistent 3-point shooter (he's made 40.5 percent of his 3s since returning to the Kings), which makes him an even better fit in Mike D'Antoni's system.

Despite Rudy Gay's Achilles injury, Sacramento has been getting along just fine without Casspi, who's been sidelined for the last three weeks due to a strained plantaris tendon in his right calf. The Kings could get a free look at McDaniels, who has a $3.5 million team option for 2017-18.

If Omri Casspi is the best possible return we can get for KJ McDaniels, then i guess....?

I still can't believe KJ McDaniels is just never going to play.

I'm not sure why we should trade KJ for the rental of Omri Casspi tbh...i also don't think we're going to bump Brewer out of the rotation just to play Casspi if we're not doing it to play KJ...

Admittedly, I have watched zero Pistons games this year. I certainly watched him during his time with San Antonio, however, which is why i can't imagine how he is as offensively skilled as Brook Lopez.

If he was brook lopez with defensive/rebounding skill, then why is he incapable of getting more than 7mpg / losing minutes to Aaron baynes / 3rd on the depth chart for a middling Eastern Conference team?

    Brook Lopez + Defense/Rebounding is an All-Star.

A lot of strange things happen in the NBA.

They guy that has him parked on the bench is the same guy that gave him the contract and the same guy that is banking the whole team on Andre Drummond. Boban is actually a better player than Drummond. But nobody besides the truest basketball analysts will admit that. Nevertheless it's true. SVG should trade Drummond to Boston for the Nets pick, and go to the lottery and do a quick rebuild right here. The sad thing is he probably could've gotten both the Nets picks from Boston for Drummond two years ago. But I doubt Boston would turn loose of one for Drummond now.

Boban is one of those anamolies. Coaches are so concerned with pick and roll defense. He's as slow as a slug. They watch him in pnr defense and wretch. And they totally ignore results. Yeah he sux at moving his feet. But what they are missing when they hide their eyes as the guard flies past him is dude has like a 10 foot standing reach. (Slight exaggeration but not much.) That's a huge intimidation factor that shows up on rim defense difference numbers like what is printed above.

Bogan is very smart, very crafty in positioning and using his extreme length to mitigate his slow feet. Detroit would actually win more games if they started this giant and benched Drummond. And Bogan would give them a very efficient 18/12/4 while opening up the floor for everybody else with his passing and his ability to knock down his freebies.

I guarantee you if he were a Rocket that MDA would integrate him at the high post with the pick and pop action that would leave him with jumpers he could easily knock down and the option to find cutters/spotters by looking over the top, not to mention dropping him inside for the quick post where he can obliterate his man under the rim.
