Scarlett Johansson - Fannin Street (cover of Tom Waits song) AND my favorite Texas Longhorn song... HOOK EM
It has been my oversight to neglect the last of the yodeling cowboys from this thread until page 3. RIP, Don Walser.
Seeing them play this @ Stubbs on this tour I had one of the most freaky moments @ a show during the change that comes @ 3:24 of the song the skies opened up and stared pissing down raining. And then stopped right as the song went back in to the main chorus; as if to say "you want Houston, well here it is!!" Just a truly great and poetic moment for a concert.
any answer other than london homesick blues is the wrong answer... preferably the gary p. nunn live acoustic version. super heady nug points to RM95 and TnF for the crowes mentions though.
I can't think of a song right now, but I'll tell you one thing....if you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band.
Please. If you're going to quote an Alabama song, make it the correct one. (not being political... ugh. I shouldn't even have to preface this.) This was & is a great song. Sorry if I hurt feelings. Not my intention.
My first thought was God Blessed Texas, but it's not really a "good" song, just kind of a funny song. London Homesick Blues is probably the correct answer. It's a great song, and definitely about Texas being great. Luckenbach, Texas is great, but really just a backdrop excuse to sing about each other. Amarillo by Morning is great, but more about rodeos that happens to be in Texas. La Grange is great, but like.... about a brothel that happens to be in Texas. Texas Flood is great, but kind of talks about crappy things happening in Texas.
Would every song by the Texas Tornados count? You know... since it would still have the word Texas associated with it?
