I can see that. From the outside, they see the league's #1 defense getting back the best defensive player of this decade. To them, "all" we need is a qb.
This has been the case even with the previous coaching regime. Then we apparently turned down Peyton manning because we had Matt Schaub. Great defense, good offensive weapons. Just needed someone to put it all together at QB. I hope we have learned from that experience, and we don't waste our defense, Hopkins, and company while trying to develop Brock.
Texans were in their playoff loss until the 4th Qtr. They played well, but lack QB confidence and willpower. I think the Texans had a good season, if the team gets a mentally strong QB, they will be conteders. Afterall, the only thing the QB has to do is not mess up; limiting the mistakes, and the team would be up there with the elite group challenging for a super bowl.
If outsiders believe it, and the Texans organization doesn't - that team isn't going anywhere. The organization has to believe it's got the perfect system, that it's a SB contender, the best in the division, and the best in the NFL. Until they have that kind of confidence in themselves, they're gonna remain the mediocre crap fest they've always been.
Rehab was done. He was cleared for football activities just before the divisional game. He should be good to go for OTAs unless the team decides to hold him out.
They provided the blueprint that the Falcons used in the first half. They were getting pressure without sending numbers and contesting every pass. But, like the Texans, their offense wasn't on the field long enough (the Pats ran 47 more plays than the birds), and they got worn out. When you show a weakness, Brady will find it and destroy it.
What is the prognosis for players who's had that surgery before historically? Can we expect him to be 100% or are the days of 20 sacks over.
The history of the surgery isn't great but there's no way to know. He's a physical freak. To be fair, though...20 sacks is something that's only happened a few times ever. So, expecting that level of production isn't entirely fair. Plus, with the emergence of Clowney and Mercilus continuing to improve, JJ's role might change some. He doesn't have to carry the entire defense any more.
Hard to say really, every person heals differently and sometimes similar injuries can be very different from each other. When Clowney had microfracture about 90% of the fanbase assumed he'd never play worth a damn again Honestly I'm not going to count out JJ Watt till I see he can't do it anymore....and I wouldn't be ready to make a final judgement of that at any point next season. Sometimes injuries like this take a year for a player to get back from even after they start playing again before they are where they once were.
It's too early to tell who is going to go where but I really feel comfortable in saying you draft the best QB available with your 1st round pick. This team has severely under drafted at the position and it's why it's in the situation that it's in. Don't get cute if you think that the best QB available is more of a mid 2nd instead of late 1. Just take the damn player. Stop getting players that other teams don't want anymore. Get a guy young and try to build him into a good QB. It's crazy that they've only drafted 2 QBs in the last 5 years. Outside the Texans, of 6 of 7 teams drafted their starting QB. Miami is in a gray area considering their starting QB went down towards the end of the season and was replaced by a guy they did not draft. They should make signing Romo their number 1 priority for the short term. It's low risk, high reward. The guy is good when he's healthy.
Why would he agree to that? He knows he's probably going to be cut after the end of next season and lose all the non-guaranteed money
looool, how the hell are we closer to the SB than the ones in it...? yes we have the best defense in the NFL and it might even get better next season, but we arguably have the worst QB in the NFL and until we have a solid QB there is no way on earth we could even sniff the SB game anytime soon.
That's what we did with Osweiler. The cost should be within reason, and also the people evaluating the QB need to do a better job
