If Elvin Hayes's number isn't retired, then TMac's shouldn't be.

Nah. The next player to get their Jersey retired in Toyota Center is probably going to be Harden.

When Yao was at his peak, he was as dominant or more than Shaq was at that time. Yao definitely deserves to be in the hall of fame based on his game alone.

Combining with Yao to score 15 points in the last minute to beat the Spurs is not enough of a resume

If I remembered correctly, TMac didn't leave the Rockets on good terms. I think he forced the Rockets to trade him because there was a question of was he injured, or not injured before being traded. Unless he becomes part-owner for the Rockets, I don't think there is a chance he gets his jersey hanged.

People who know absolutely nothing about Rockets history want tmac's jersey retired.

Hint: when Yao stopped playing they never gave #11 to anyone

#1 has been passed around like a joint at snoop doggs house

    I lol'd

The way Mcgrady left has a large part in this. Yao left the Rockets with grace and respect. He had no choice. He gave 100% effort from his first game to his last game. Mcgrady literally gave up on the team.

Clyde Drexler has his number retire by 2 NBA teams
And he went to the NBA finals as a starter for both teams

Tmac has his number retired by zero teams

Not only that, McGrady gave up the #1 to Ariza when they were still both Rockets.

Were you already a houston rox fan back then? None of your posts make any sense. What Tmac did in toronto and orlando has nothing to do with the Rockets, its just as dumb as Miami retiring MJ's number.

Secondly "never got out of first round" is a tag people label on Tmac playoffs are a team accomplishment, Yao Ming was always injured everytime playoffs arrived except that one series against the jazz. That left Rafer alston, Shane Battier, Juwon Howard and 40 yr old Deke against Dallas and the jazz.

Jazz are mediocre? Really? Prime Deron, Prime Boozer and prime Kirilenko with Okur is mediocre? What corpse are you talking about? Kirilenko was just in his early 30s during that time, he was still one of the best defenders and athletic players in the NBA.

People exaggerate the toronto game, but the reality is player quit in games all the time. Just look at last season, the first 3 games where we got blown out by 20 each game. Thats 3 times Harden quit, 3x the amount of Tmac. When Harden retires you dont want his jersey retired too? What a bunch of bs, the greatest quitter in the world is MJ. He quit bball to play baseball, then came running back when he sucked in baseball. So wheres the outrage for MJ quitting? Quitting a sport is 100 time worse than quitting a single game wtf.

Considering Ariza is already wearing #1 I think the rockets have already tossed that idea in the dumpster

Top 5 reasons why McGrady should never have his jersey retired.

    5. 2nd round virgin.
    4. Up 2-0, blown out by 40 in decisive game 7 at home vs. DALLAS.
    3. Against team doctors, had season-ending surgery without telling anyone--not even his coaches or teammates.
    2. Toronto game.

... and the #1 reason McGrady should NEVER have his jersey retired in Houston:

    1. "Rockets forward Ron Artest refuses to believe that injured teammate Tracy McGrady has picked the Lakers to beat Houston and win the NBA Championship. 'He picked us,' Artest told The Carmichael Dave show on KHTK. The host fired back with: 'No, he didn't. He picked the Lakers.' 'No, he didn't,' Artest insisted. 'Tracy didn't say that, you know, he didn't say that. He didn't say that... I think that guy who said that wasn't Tracy, it was a look-alike. I just got a text, it was a look alike... He's got total confidence in us.'"

Sorry, Artest. He really did pick Kobe and the Lakers, and he did so because he couldn't handle the FACT that you (tru warier) finally got Yao and the Rockets into the 2nd round.

Not only did McGrady literary quit on his team. This guy went to the media and threw his teammates under the bus while they were pouring their hearts out against the Lakers (Yao in the tunnel comes to mind) in grueling series.

Again, McGrady did all of this because his fragile, inflated ego couldn't handle the obvious realty: with Artest, the Rockets were a tougher, better playoff team without him.

Now, I'm all for forgiveness, but let's not lose our damn minds.

McGrady should never join the high ranks of those Rockets legends looking down on us at Toyota Center. Never.

I'm not for McGrady getting his jersey retired, but I don't think Artest made the Rockets a better playoff team than McGrady. Having Scola, Landry, Brooks, as supporting cast members did. McGrady literally had Ryan Bowen start a playoff series with him, and had a couple series with Luther Head as the 6th man. LOL..
