Faux news - Korean Grandma assaulted by woman screaming 'white power' in LA.

    http://nextshark.com/korean-grandma-assaulted-in-los-angeles-white-power-february-1/

Officer Madison also made it clear that the case is currently not being investigated as a hate crime and any details surrounding the attacker yelling “white power” after hitting the victim are not included in the current official report and may still be subject to the ongoing investigation into the incident.

    Really an ugly, despicable incident.

Not sure what it has to do with Trump/Bannon, however.

Probably nothing. But we do know that Bannon has said that legal immigrants are a bigger threat than illegal immigrants. He has spoken out against east and southeast Asian legal immigrants in particular.

If Bannon would be honest with himself, he would berate white suburban kids for choosing business administration or humanities over engineering. He's right. You walk around majority of engineering sections of campuses around this country and half the students walking around are ethnic minorities with student visas. But he's wrong in thinking that American students have limited slots taken up by South Asian students in regards to STEM program acceptances. No, it's just suburban white kids know it's the status quo to go to college in their suburban culture but don't feel a strong urge thus they abstain from challenging fields of study and chose something that will give them the easiest path to having a piece of paper that says 'bachelors in...'.

The reason all the schools are filled with foreign students is because there aren't enough students from the U.S. to fill those slots. You're absolutely right. If Bannon has his way all he would do is force companies to find talent overseas or move overseas as there is a shortage of american engineers.

Bannon is a total moron beyond being a white supremacist.

While i don't agree with Bannon's quotes, nowhere does it encourage violence on Asians. Linking these two things is simply absurd.

And yet you had no problem with blaming Obama for allegedly fomenting anger and resentment against white people, as I remember it.

    I'm genuinely curious -- what's the difference?

Did you find the things Obama said just comparably more objectionable?

Or perhaps you think Obama had more responsibility to not express his left-leaning views on race relations, because you think his supporters are more prone to violence?

It's the rhetoric that dehumazies 'the other' that makes it easier for those who already have racist tendencies to have that little extra push to justify more tangible expressions of their racism.

Apparently white people are such special snowflakes according to individuals like bigtexxx and therestheddagger etc believe that 'Trevon could have been my son' was enough to irk white people to believe they are being targeted by the president for 'white privilege'.

The lefties around here are simply unhinged. They're flailing around with non-existent logic to try to blame anything and everything on Trump. They're embarrassing themselves.

Let's focus on bringing the person who pushed the elderly lady to justice, rather than trying to score childish political points due to this ugly act.

    Interesting non-response.

My view: If someone in a position of influence says something I strongly disagree with, and violence ensues, it is fair to speculate that there is a connection and caution the person in that position to be more careful with his/her words in the future.

Sometimes leaders express views that are eminently reasonable (Bannon's anti-immigrant stuff doesn't qualify), and crazy people go out and use it as an excuse to harm others. In those cases, I think it's unfair to blame those leaders.

Individuals are responsible for their actions is absolutely correct, but do not tell the whole story, and the many components that lead to individuals behaviors are ignored often. Probably because it's nearly impossible for an outsider to understand why someone act the way they did, but deep down, we all know that we are affected by our environment, some more than others. Can any single person claim they were not affected by the environment they grew up in and live under?

We have an environment were those that hold the utmost power is divisive, hate immigrants and non-white, and have already acted out some of those views. Ugly immoral violent people under this environment will be empowered to act out - that's nature and natural. Even those that are on the edge can be pushed toward the nasty side. The violent reaction to these concerns are as horrible.

Trump/Bannon as leader is responsible for the ugly environment they have created, and the negative effects it have on people.
