Truly an inspiration: a warrior's spirit burns within a gentemen's soul.

It's very rare for someone to exceed the hype and promise of an entire nation. What Yao accomplished, through remarkable grace and humility, grit and determination, transcends sport. In only the way he could, Yao arrived in Houston with a tremendous weight of expectation and immediately disarmed everyone with his genuineness and brilliant sense of humor.

Clearly, the Rockets organization and the City of Houston also impacted Yao on a very deep and personal level. What a privilege it's been for us, the fans, to experience a small role in this man's powerful journey.

And, while today's athlete obsesses about his own legacy, Yao's fans, teammates, coaches, and opponents do their very best to secure his.

Mr. Yao, thank you for showing us all how to win at life.

if you watch carefully, Yao wasn't very ready for a chest-bumping hug over there from J-Harden, that was awkward. :D:rolleyes:
I guess Yao is now too Huge to make a subtile maneuver causing from a chest-bump....

BTW, I am also living in Shanghai, but i never got the chance to meet him, even in his Shark's stadium...o_Oo_O

Right there with Dream for my favorite Rocket player. Everything you'd want in a player that represents my favorite team.

    I miss him out there.

Telling Dream that he witnessed Clutch City was a special moment

Never forget how he came back into the game with that busted leg in the Lakers semi final series. I honestly believe had tmac not got injured that season we would have won the title. We were stacked. Artest, Yao, Scola, Tmac...

That was better than a production from ESPN 30 for 30. Knowing Yao's personality through the years from the media, Yao probaly told Harden that he would be witnessing #13 jersey ceremony. I love Yao for mentioning TMac 35 sec which will go down as the best basketball sequence ever in the history of the Rockets.

Such a classy speech! Even while the whole night was supposed to be a recognition of his greatness and contributions to Houston, he still found a way to make it about his teammates - mentioning T-Mac's 13 in 35, Steve Franchise, etc. What a man. We've truly been blessed to have had 8 years with this man.

That was an absolutely beautiful presentation by the Rockets. Very well organized with some of the greats like Dream present as well as Yao's former teammates and coaches. Great speech by Yao too.

The other key thing was Harden watching all this and taking it in knowing that he is next up there. Bodes well for Harden and the Rockets

It's amazing to see how Vernon Maxwell has aged compared to Francis. And it's not like Mad Max hasn't lived a wild life himself.
