Unfortunately there is no such thing as a high percentage 3 pointer for the Rockets at this point in time.
ya I really think there is something to this. Guys technically get "open" shots, but I think it is a bit of a misnomer considering how far beyond the line they are. that has to effect the %
No real need to argue this. By tomorrow, NBA.com stats page will show us how open we were on threes, with their "closest defender" stats. 4-6' is "Open". And 6+ is "Wide Open" They haven't generated the stats yet from the video. So far, what they show is we were 0-4 from the left corner. 3-7 from right. and 10-40 from above the break. But no closest defender data, yet.
We've been doing that all year. It's a league-wide phenomenon, too. Many teams/shooters are stepping back further. In any event, this isn't new for now. It's been all season for Anderson and Gordon, especially Anderson.
White chocolate : "my dream was to play like Harden surrounded with so many shooters ! " with 25% made 3s , espn still can't get it ,it's a nightmare
they will probably give that narrative a few more losses....they are always stick with it a little too long IMO.
For the season, we average 3.7 from the left corner (shooting at 37.2%). 4.6 from the right (40.7%). 31.3 from above the break (35.6%) Tonight, we were 4, 7 and 40. Not really a big difference, considering we shot 3 more corners than normal, too, which is a bigger percentage increase going from 8.3 to 11, than 31 to 40 is.
It was pretty hard to argue with too, because we were hitting them with regularity early... thus "the surprising rockets" were born. but when they were on that run, (especially gordon) everyone had to know that wasn't going to last.....
Are you a New Orleans fan. For all we know, Anderson and Gordon have been stepping back for longer threes for years, like Curry has. We are just now witnessing it. Since it has become more commonplace in the league, we can assume the elite 3pt shooters are moving back for a reason, because they can still hit at a advantageous clip by being open, where otherwise they'd be guarded. They are the stretch-stretch shooters, you could say.
I knew it wasn't going to last at the rate it was going at. I did NOT expect us to become the worst shooting team in the league for a solid 1.5 months, though. 29th in the league in percentage and by far the most attempts in the league? Simply pathetic. A regression was expected, but incompetence was not.
you could definitely be right about that. no I don't watch pelicans games. haha i don't remember it from that playoff series against gs....but no I can neither confirm nor deny it. "Stretch shooters". interesting concept. but it looks like they need to get back to the drawing board. Or start working on half court heaves......
The sad thing about this is that the Rockets still should have won this game despite shooting as poorly as they were. They managed to squander a 20 point lead with like 8 minutes left in the 4th? What a disaster. When you lose a game in this fashion it means you mentally imploded, gave up and mailed it in. Every player is to blame when something like this happens, as are the coaches. That said, Gordon/Ryno/Ariza shot a combined 6 for 29 from three in this game tonight. You would think with those guys shooting that poorly the Hawks should have won by a much bigger margin. I don't know what the problem is with these guys, if they're in a funk or playing hurt but damn man they need to fix that **** and they need to fix it soon.
****ing can't even hit 3's from Louisiana St or Milam St and these old fool gets excited when one goes in from Conroe.
We were being significantly out-rebounded the entire game. We were shooting a significantly worse %. If not for jacking up the 3's the game would have been over mid-3rd quarter - ballgame Hawks.
