Rockets have played the most away games in the league

But still Harden has to score 50/15/15 with under 3 TO's to be on Westbrick's level

They're not a different species just because they're stronger and faster.
Their bodies recover the same way as yours or mine and being at jet altitude is bad for the body, especially an injured body.

Chris Bosh's blood clots were caused by flying

The players they talk to here describe how any injury that is swollen will balloon up while on a flight:

Crossing more than one time zone can frequently cause problems:

This fact helps offset the utter CRAP the past 30 days have been.

We're relying on your theory to come through for us over the next couple of weeks, DonKnock.

It's really unfathomable at this point that the schedule makers looked at what they had and were like "yea this seems pretty even"

Seriously. I doubt anyone has a worse month than the Rockets in January. It's the kind of month I would build into the schedule if I was responsible for planning the Mavs schedule.

Yeah, this is a good thread. I hate when the Rockets put up a stinker and I am concerned about their defense and 3-point shooting lately. But when you've played 51 games already(including 29 on the road) and no one else in the league(I think) has played more than 50 with some having played as few as 46(like the defending champion Cavs), it stands to reason you're gonna be far more fatigued than some of your opponents.

And hell, even with a lighter schedule this week, the Rockets still have to play 3 games in 4 nights(mercifully all at Toyota Center). By the end of Friday, they'll have racked up 54 games already which is insane. The good news is every team plays 82. So the schedule starting next week and carrying through til the end of the season will be much less taxing. If they can get healthy, rest some of their key guys, and maybe pick up an extra player at the trade deadline(or off waivers), they can return to playing the kind of dominant ball they were exhibiting in December.

What's awesome is that we might not even need the extra players given we will hit 40-20 with just these guys. Not to say we shouldn't. But it allows the GM to think more strategically about acquiring guys for the playoffs, rather than desperately seeking out someone to give guys a breather.

January was always gonna be a tough month, even without fatigue and injuries factored in. But they're guaranteed a winning record for the month regardless of what happens tomorrow night vs Sactown(although I'd be alarmed if they didn't win that one).

Just to add to your analysis, this is not a 3 hour flight. I make this flight 5+ times a year, its about 1 hour 20 minutes

I can't figure out for the life of me why the schedule is this way.

We play Atlanta at home on Thursday and Chicago on Friday for a home & home back to back.

    Our games ------- Their Games

    Feb 2nd --------- Feb 1st
    Feb 3rd ----------- Feb 3rd
    Feb 7th --------- Feb 6th

If we moved the game to Saturday, who does that effect? I know we have the super bowl here, but that's on Sunday. A Saturday game would have plenty of spillover regarding energy. True sports enthusiasts will want tickets to both just as a spectacle. So why are we forced to play this unnecessary back to back? Am I missing something?

That would be flying from New Orleans to Denver, not Houston to Denver.

Is that the route you are talking about?
