Or, just stop going. The Fuddruckers by my house is actually right across the street from the Becks Prime that I go to more often now. The food quality is much better at Becks and the prices are about the same as what you get a Fuddruckers, plus the added benefit of them getting it right when you ask for Medium or Medium Rare.
Katy area has a plethora of great burger joints. Willy's across from Katy High School is the best, but if you have a chance to try Joy Love Burger, do it. JAX Burger too, but that's a chain (not to be confused with Grill.
There was literally like no traffic there, ever. I could go any time and be first in line which I enjoyed if I just wanted to eat, but I prefer the others to catch a game at and to people watch. The place was just too tiny, like a shack compared to the Heights and Midtown locations.
It is my understanding that the second, newer Shack is owned by the same people as the original. Is this not accurate? That location used to be P.O.s which was truly a little "shack" that had really simple, awesome burgers.
I didn't know that. The "fake" one I referred to used to be called PO Burgers or something like that. I went there once for lunch. It was just some hungover teens tossing a crappy patty on a grill. Nothing special at all.
yes! It was so tiny and rundown lol but the burgers were off the hook! I haven't been to those other two locations. I've only eaten at the one they built on hwy 6 and didn't think it measured up, like not even close to as good.
The Heights location is a place I'm at a lot for games, legit awesome burgers like the original. Midtown location is just kinda meh imo.
Hubcap Grill in the Heights has been so-so the last few times I went. Haven't been to the downtown one in several years, but that place was up there. Christian's in the Heights and the one on Highway 6 are below the original (R.I.P., apparently). I think they were franchises and not the same management. The original was top notch. Bernie's Burger Bus was amazing the few times I tried it...I think they have a brick-and-mortar now, but I haven't been. They even made the condiments from scratch. Stanton's was really bad when I tried it about 10 years ago. Haven't been back, but they've updated the storefront, so maybe I should give it another chance. They've got a reputation for a reason. Southwell's never disappoints and Bubba's is fantastic, but I'm never in that area. Their potato salad is excellent. I'd say Bernie's is the best, followed closely by Hubcap...if the downtown one is still as good as it used to be.
Even though this is the 80th thread on the subject it still makes me sad there are 4X more replies in the fast food chain burger thread. I haven't eaten a fast food poison chemical sandwich in 4 years.
Word... I gave up on the clown, etc. about 2 years ago and never looked back. At this point, fast food isn't even all that much cheaper than good, honest food. There's a great Vietnamese place on 1960 (Ba Mien Bistro) where I can get a bahn mi for $4. Throw in some shrimp spring rolls and I'm out of there for $8. The last time I went to fast food place and ordered a value meal (supersized), it was $7+.
I don't know how I forgot about this one. Really like Champ. Sparkle's burger which is a couple of minutes from Champ is also solid.
If I'm taking the family out to eat, I'm not going to any fast food spot. These days, it's not even much cheaper than going to a sit-down restaurant. My boys are 5 years old now and they've never had fast food, aside from an occasional trip to Chick Fil a with their grandparents. As for me, I can probably count on 1 hand how many times I've eaten fast food in all of 2016. Not because I'm some super health nut, but because fast food ain't cheap anymore like it used to be.
