I will say one thing- I have changed my mind about something, and I'm going to apply this to all Presidents. Executive orders need to be curtailed. President Obama shouldn't have issued as many as he did, and of course we know FDR was the king of them. To me, it smacks too much of the President wanting to be the legislative and executive branch at the same time. I understand that the President should have some control over this, but there should be a limit on every President going forward, Dems and Repubs alike.

Do you feel the need to qualify "straight man" with "normal'?

I completely agree, every time the president successfully makes a power grab it is worse for the country in the long run. Sometimes people agree to things that are awful in the long run due to only being able to see the short term benefit, I think expansion of executive power is one of those instances.

Lol. Inconvenienced. You realize that's the exact term the administration is using? I'm not going to get into specific stories because it'll dismissed as fake news. That's the automatic reply to everything these days.

My dad was detained for 5 hours once at IAH over a prayer book. He was so chill about it.. his patience is through the roof. I had steam coming out of my ear.

Is it the term they are using? Well, good because it sounds like that's what it is. Entry into the US isn't a right unless you are a citizen, it's a privilege and privileges can be revoked or suspended. It's inconvenient when privileges are revoked or suspended, but it's not some miscarriage of justice.

People work their asses off and spend a lot of money to become permanent residents and then American citizens. If only American born citizens generally had the work ethic of American immigrants. I haven't met an immigrant and I know a crap ton that relied on the govt for ****

......okay. I'm not sure what your point is here. No one is suggesting that immigrants are bad people, just that they don't have a right to enter the country, it's a privilege for them.....which is one reason why they work their ass off to become citizens.

I knew he had fewer than Bush jr. But I didn't know that statistic. Fascinating.

OK, I stand corrected. But in general, they should be curtailed somewhat.

How deliciously ironic. Have you ever heard of the "switch in time that saved nine"? To complain about Trump ignoring district court judges, but hold FDR up as a great president... The mind boggles.

Yes, he did. Geez, hearing it from the Republicans, you'd think he was maniacal with the things:

That's not an even comparison. He could still think FDR was a great President in spite of his court-packing. Being a great President doesn't mean you agree with everything.

You know that's not what I meant. Perhaps some stats could prove what % of legal immigrants that have become green card holders/Citizens utilize food stamps as an example compared to non-immigrants.

Pretty much, even our greatest presidents have faults or made big mistakes. Running a country is hard work. FDR was a great president, anyone that says otherwise is fooling themselves.

It's not so much the number, but what the EO's were. For example, you can pee 20 times a day and no one will care.....but pee once in the punch bowl and everyone will freak out. FDR was the absolute worst when it came to ridiculously expanding the power of the executive and pushing unconstitutional programs but plenty of others are guilty of it as well. Obama and Bush both were very guilty of expanding the power of the president far beyond what was ever intended or allowed in the past and all of this is why Trump has the power he does now.
