This is especially hilarious and ironic considering your own intolerance.

No, it doesn't. All from the 'tolerant' group that advocates 'inclusiveness'. It's really quite remarkable to watch. There is point after point one could go through, where they were fine with similar things before, but now they've raised Godwin'ing to an entirely new level, all over issues they had no problems with before. It's like hyprocrisy cubed, then squared again. And it will hurt them going forward. They aren't just crying 'Wolf', they're essentially saying "Wolves are going to devour the earth!"...and when that doesn't happen, people are going to stop paying attention.

At what point do you become concerned? I'm not out on the streets protesting or anything but seeing a President use executive power to ban immigrants from majority Muslim countries after proposing a radical plan during the campaign to ban ANY Muslim from entering the country is a pretty big power overreach in my opinion. My concern grows even more when the plan is so poorly implemented as this one was and even some congressional Republicans have come out against this EO.

    Because:

#1 They aren't permanently banned. For the next 88 days or so visa are temporarily suspended.
#2 These same 7 countries were also targeted by the most recent President for close scrutiny.
#3 If it was a "muslim ban" it would have included way more than these specific countries. I would have big issues with that if it occurred.
#4 Executive action to limit immigration has occurred in each administration since Reagan.
#5 Poor implementation is a valid criticism. It is partly explained away by the secrecy required to make the ban effective (not tipping off terrorists it is coming).

Meanwhile, here's some information about previous immigration limitations made by former Presidents. Note who has used this authority more than any president of the last 35 years...(Hint...its a favorite president of a lot of folks here)

And the justification for this is what? All these non-existent terrorist attacks we've been having recently in this country committed by refugees? No refugees or immigrants from any of these countries have committed a terrorist attack in this country within recent memory. It couldn't possibly be that the people coming in from these countries were already being vetted properly over long periods of time and that people in those departments were actually doing their jobs? Nah, short-sighted, over-reactionary executive action is the answer instead.

Not tipping off terrorists to undergo the months and years long process to get into this country as a refugee? Huh?

The President was elected partly because of a promise he made to insure vetting from these specific countries is the best it can possibly be. Our own FBI director admitted they can't properly vet all Syrian refugees just 15 months ago. A 90 day temporary pause for his own appointees to inspect this vetting process doesn't seem outlandish to me. We vetted the San Bernardino shooter and it didn't stop her. Obviously it isn't perfect.

It is possible there would be ISIS recruits who already were vetted (improperly) and ready to come over here.

Remind me which countries the San Bernardino shooter lived in, again you can't even point to an instant where an immigrant or refugee from any of these countries has done anything worthy of this kind of action.

So it's possible that ISIS had someone who was already vetted ready to come into the country and commit terrorist attacks even though that's something that hadn't ever happened before? You're trying to justify something that there is no justification for.

Perhaps you should be asking the Obama administration why they listed those countries as "Terrorist hotbeds"

Here's 20 folks "vetted" into the USA who turned to terrorism...some from the countries in question. Your argument seems to be just because we've been lucky everything is just fine. I am not as confident as you.

Yes, its possible and logical. A terrorist who is ready to come here isn't gonna wait till its more difficult to try.

Your information seems to be a list of people who were caught by the vetting process. It appears they lied and were caught. Vetting process so far seems to be working.

Again what would you do to improve the vetting process?

They arrived in the United States after vetting and were caught later. In what world is that a success?

Above my pay grade. I'll leave that to the professionals in our government.

A good point, FranchiseBlade. Here is an excellent discussion on the topic. Warning: Those who can't handle actual debate on an issue without needless insults and slurs will find this offensive.

I will say it changed my mind some on the issue. I won't comment beyond that. It is a bit long...these are debates intentionally set up to have scholars from each side of an issue debate the topic. A very cool site, but again, not for those that just want to be fed their daily dose of only what they want to hear.

If you're not aware of this already, you suffer from serious attention deficit disorder.

Your point was a ridiculous strawman. You should be ashamed for making such a dishonest argument.

That's admirable. I try to do the same, I only put the absolute worst of the worst on my ignore list. You have to be pretty much entirely worthless to end up there. I think it would be bad to ignore people frivolously or simply because they have a different opinion.

I've never put any poster on Ignore, ever. Words on a message board mean very little in the grand scheme of things, it's just a forum to let off steam. It's not really even an area in which you're going to convince someone to believe what they are ingrained to believe. The studies they've conducted have shown that when it comes to politics, the large majority will refute almost any evidence that puts their guy or gal in a bad light.

That's why it's hilarious when BigTexxx does his stupid "OWNED!" thing. Wow, BT (otherwise known as my dad) thinks he owned me. Geez, time to curl up in a fetal position with my safety blanket and shed tears over his alternative-facts ownage. Pffttt.

No one on this board is ever going to change any of our minds about anything political ever until the day this board no longer exists.

When you're 49 y.o. like me, and you've got, what, 10 years or 20 years left- or 2- who the hell knows? Life's too short to let a message board affect you. It's just a break from having to write for the 10,000th time about a results-driven, goal-focused, people-oriented, team-centered, self-starting, flexible, dedicated, passionate team player with excellent oral and written communications abilities who can help a company generate transformational outcomes, achieve its top-priority goals, and reach the next level of success through a tireless work ethic, solid business acumen, strong profit motive, extensive skill set, and uncompromising focus on the (choose one) customer's / vendor's / partner's / patient's / guest's / tenant's / member's / constituent's / student's / owner's needs.
