I am sure someone from the fake news media who ran a tabloid blog is the best and the brightest to advise on matters of national security...

You know, Sam, I'm not sure they won't need a night of the long knives to consolidate any loyalty among the military. A night of long tweets just won't get it done.

Lots of military eyebrows are raising at this move. They aren't going to take marching order from the internet troll.

Not even surprised. I hope the next president even if it is Pence can clean up the mess that Trump will make.

I don't think there is a swap here or a decrease in power for DNI or JCS (yet), but Bannon as co-equal to chief-of-staff in the WH itself is enough to puke.

Outside the White supremacists, whom I have neither time nor respect to listen, are there conservatives out there who like this move?

This seems like a deliberate consolation of military control to one person away from generals who have come from a solid background defending our national security.

I know it's trolling to mention his weight problems and very Trumpish, but isnt white supremacism reliant on ideals of physical perfction to buttress it's Ubermensch type claptrap?

And yet so many of them like Trump, Bannon, Goring, Himmler, Goebbels are so physically deficient, relative to that archetype , to put it kindly.

I'm waiting for the inevitable dismissal of just how awful a move this is.

Who needs the CJCS and DNI when you have the best military brain with access to alternate intel?

Oh God, Sam. Quit buying into the lamestream media's lies. The alt-right is not affiliated with white-supremacy, so therefore they are allowed to spend their lives sitting in their homes harassing women and liberals on social media all day. Exercise is for the poor suckers who will have to run around and get killed and maimed overseas.

This is a movement that fringe leftists in this country don't understand because they have never spent time w/ the common folk in this country. You know, the common folk; the folks who boycott movies w/ women, eat copious amounts of junk food, and have serious opiate habits.

These are the type of people who know how to get things done in our military because their life experience is comprised of countless hours of simulated war w/ playing FPS multiplayer games and typing eviscerating tweets, dank memes, and youtube comments. Bannon has cultivated this powerful force in "the age of computer " and therefore he is the only reasonable choice to dictate White House foreign policy.

Srsly? I mean, aside from your hatred of everything liberal, including several of us I assume...

leaving that aside, you don't have a problem with downgrading two people with key knowledge and points of view and upgrading an internet troll and (most probably) white nationalist?

Like so much of this, it's without precedent. Imagine if Obama had swapped out key intelligence and military leadership for Jeremiah Wright on the national security council. Think Fox would have had much to say about it? I definitely would have.

I actually like your perspective at times. Not a huge fan of this thread title though. No big deal

It's all good. It's not a title that's out to make friends. :)

But hey, I'm kinda proud of my Jeremiah Wright analogy. LOL.

More like if Obama brought out Sal Alinsky and put him as the main goto guy for daily classified intelligence breifings.

I think this IS one of those wait and see situation, with disgust already happening. A few things.

As chief strategist (new WH role), it shouldn't be a surprise that Bannon would be in these security meetings (puke and yes, outrage that Bannon is co-equal to chief of staff to WH). The executive order made this official, but not something unexpected.

NSC and HSC meetings (with President and his cabinet) shall include DNI and CJCS with CofStaff to WH and Chief Strategist as invitee. DNI and CJCS cannot be excluded (unless Trump just ignore the national and homeland security act of 1947 and 2002). Nothing change here.

The controversy is over the Principals Committee (cabinet-level forum for policy concerning security chaired by security advisor - Flynn), where the additional message of "DNI and CJCS shall attend WHERE ISSUES PERTAINING to their responsibilities and expertise are to be discussed". This same language was there with Bush Jr and removed under Obama. Now it's back. But it's hard to see what security issue doesn't involve DNI and CJCS, so when they are actually excluded, red flags can and should fly. Perhaps security issues pertaining to election fraud for example, or to hacking by Russia...

I think that is where the focus need to be, when they are excluded and for what reasons. The general wider lens criticism is ok at this stage to bring awareness, but it shouldn't stay there and loses focuses on real concerns that may come down the pipe soon and over the next 4 years.
