So his footwork must be very good already. I hope I can watch more.

I watched btw. His does not seem to be close to the fluidity and creativity of Hakeem's motions.

    Neat effort tho.

Did you mean Jokic instead of Nurkic?

Well, he's closer than Amare, who I think was the last player the media tried to compare to Hakeem. At least Embiid plays defense, you know?

I like Embiid but I'm worried about his long-term health.

Hes 7-2 and has hakeem like footwork. He might be better. hakeem is smaller than dwight and dwight is 6-11. Hakeem could very well be 6-9/6-10

It really doesn't matter because if he stays healthy he has the potential to be a generational talent.

OK, I've heard enough. Everyone just stop it with the Hakeem comparison. It's getting ludicrous in here. He's about as close as Rudy Gay was to Kobe.

    He's huge.

The thing is he's not just bigger than Hakeem he's a lot bigger than the dream.

This guy Embiid is huge his body is like Orlando Shaq but with much better skills.

I mean he's avg 20/8/2.5 in 25 min a night lets not pretend that if he was getting normal 33-35min a night he wouldn't be 25+ ppg with 11-12 rebounds and prob 3-4 blks.

This kid is special and if he got to play normal minutes his numbers would trump every big man rookie ever outside of Shaq over the last 35 years.

He's just a monster he looks so huge out there and is actually really mobile and fluid for being that size.

I know they say he's 7 ft 250 but that guy looks like he's 7'2 280+ and his arms are some of the longest I've ever seen.

And he shoots the three at around 40% and his ft at 80%.

This guy can be the next great alltime center he's just to big and to skilled.

Really hope he stays healthy but not to be a Debby downer the odds of him staying healthy is very slim imo.

That is cool but not really what I meant.

I was saying he will become a superstar, but you have to be humble to become the best of the best.

You cannot think that you are Hakeem because some guy who works for ESPN was calling you that.

Some of y'all really need to a get a grip. This kid is incredible, he's been compared to Hakeem since he came out the draft. He has all the potential to be one of the best players we'll see over the next few years.

None of the best players were humble Im not sure what you mean by that.

Hakeem was not humble when he came into the NBA. Hakeem was a hot head who got in fights on the court and he was still a big time player from his rookie year on.

Larry bird Jordan magic Kobe Lebron None of those guys were very humble.

Really all I was saying if Embiid is not just putting up stats he's dominating games and it's translating to wins. Only thing holding him back from being a star right now is that he can't play many minutes or b2b.

If that continues as great as his talent is he can't be your best player and win a chip.

I said yes if he stays healthy. Will he be exactly like Dream? No. Nobody will. But I assume the question really is "Does he have the potential to reach Dream's level?".

I've only seen a few guys enter the league since Dream who had that level of potential. Rasheed Wallace (never got anywhere close). Kevin Garnett (closer but still no). Anthony Davis (jury is still out) and now Embiid. You might could make an argument for KAT.

Clearly having that kind of potential doesn't mean you'll get there. He has the potential. If his health holds up, it'll be up to him whether he realizes it.

Akeem was a pretty raw NBA rookie with great instincts and athleticism. Embiid looks more polish and is bigger, but maybe not more jump out the gym athletic like rookie Akeem.

Hakeem was one of the top elite two way players ever, if not the top. I don't mind the comparison since they have similar backgrounds but Emiid looks like he already is ahead offensively in their rookie years.

He did. When he missed that 2nd year it was basically the last nail in the coffin for hinkie. If he played like this last year Hinkie wouldnt have been fired.

Didn't see Billups make the comparison, but I assume a lot of it had to do with Embiid not playing basketball until late, like Olajuwon. I agree the guy is ridiculous and handles the ball better than Hakeem ever did. His offensive efficiency this year is already better than Hakeem's best year. He won't be what Hakeem was defensively but he's a much better fit offensively for today's game. Hakeem would be really good defensively in today's game but nowhere near the impact he made in his day. It's just a different game.

Basketball is Basketball. Dream is the best post player of all-time. He was completely unstoppable one on one in the post and he had a steady mid range game to boot. Defensively he was such a great athlete he used his quickness to finish in the top 10 in steals and tops in blocks. His athleticism would make Dream formidable in any time period. When Embiid leads a team to 2 titles while being the most dominant force on both ends then maybe he compares. Until then, he just doesn't.
