Well, let's assume you are right here, how that trade helps the Bulls in any case? Because that's point in the end.
So I was playing around with the idea of Melo going to New York and us being the third team to facilitate. You can make minor adjustments if you were to replace Redick with Crawford (do we want Jamal for the next three years?) but basically: Houston In: JJ Redick Houston Out: KJ McDaniels, Tyler Ennis, picks New York In: Austin Rivers, Wesley Johnson, KJ Mcdaniels New York Out: Carmelo Anthony LA Clippers In: Carmelo Anthony, Tyler Ennis LA Clippers Out: JJ Redick, Wesley Johnson, Austin Rivers http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gr8m4es Now this is probably unlikely, but out of curiosity, how do you guys think Carmelo is viewed by LA and NY in a trade scenario like this? Are Clippers thinking Melo isn't that great a player so he's not worth losing their shooting and depth? Are New York desperate to unload Carmelo's contract so that all it would take is Austin Rivers in return? I said Houston would give up picks but I don't know where they would go. Me, personally, thinks LA would probably need more and New York would be thrilled if they can unload Melo without taking any crippling contracts back.
Bulls Out Jimmy Buckets Bulls In. Eric Gordon + Trezz + KJ + Pick or Ariza + Capela + KJ 1st round + Pick To get something you have to give something You might have give two or three rotational players and picks for a super star. Harden Harden Butler Beverly Ariza Buttler Anderson Anderson Capela Nene Not a bad Starting line up at all.
I think the only package that would be interesting for the Bulls would be something like: Capela, Dekker, pick/s and dumps to match so, Brewer, KJ, Ennis... And even than, other teams can still offer more if they want...a package like Nurkic, Mudiay/Murray, Hernangomez, Denver pick is (way?) better...
Unprotected first Quality Starter at SF: Ariza Proven energy backup Wing: Brewer Rights to Llull or Gentile *Every player can play right away in Hoiberg's fast paced system. Hoiberg and FO can still be competitive in weaker East while rebuilding. Ariza and Brewer also provide leadership and intangibles required to bring locker room together.
I think the Rockets would have to trade a lot of assets in order to get a star and at the same time sacrifice depth. Right now depth is already a problem. I would love for the Rockets to take a chance on some youngsters who help the team and solve the problem of depth without sacrificing any major assets. Richaun Holmes is low in the depth chart in Philly but when he does play he plays well and he has shown he can block shots and hit the 3 ball. Gabe York in the D- League is hitting 3's at a high rate and is guard that can fill in if either Gordon or Bev is injured. From what Morey is saying he is focusing on improving depth and not making any major changes. So I am suggesting these players because it would be in line with the mindset he has expressed.
- Unprotected 1st ok, but at this point it's going to be an early 20 at best. - Quality starter like Trevor, i agree, but for a rebuilding team? They would probably trade him in the summer for another 20 pick... - Brewer as a positive asset -> Spoiler - rights of Llull (who's probably never going to play there anyway) and Gentile which is...a decent prospect at best I can also agree about the lockeroom boost with Trevor and Brew, but let's be real, where is that team going? Rondo, Wade, Ariza, Gibson, Lopez...they would be a bunch of old guys roaming around 50% (at best) for a couple of years, and then they would be forced to rebuild anyway... that's the worst possible scenario where you can be as a team. And while i'm not a fan of the Bulls fo, i just cannot see them being delusional enough to think that this roster would be worth a shot...if you trade your only good player, why would you want to stay very mediocre for two years riding a bunch of old guys? Just rebuild as soon as you can :/
Don't see Wade or Rondo being on Bulls beyond this season, if that. Taj and Ariza would be great leaders for young players currently on roster and soon to be on roster. Again, Hoiberg is likely out if he doesn't show something to build on, hard to do that with a roster full of newbs or progress stoppers/locker room killers like Rondo, Wade and now Butler. Hoiberg is fighting for his coaching life.
That's a thread within a thread. I can't speak for others. Just myself. 1a Stout post defender 1b Versatile 3 & D wing 3 Backup PG *By season's end Rockets offense will be top 5 in most categories if not all. Rockets can roll the dice & pray Harden/Bev/EGo avoid injury. (Backup PG a 3rd need) *Versatile 3 & D wing allows Ariza to float defensively & act as backup shooting guard.(1b need). *Rockets need a rim protector / rebounder regardless of no injuries to Nene/Capela/Harrell Rockets defense <5 feet of rim is about 3rd worst in the lèague. (Need 1a IMO).
The Bulls are not trading Jimmy Butler for Ariza, a 1st round pick and trash. Come on, be real. Any number of teams could trump that offer without trying hard.
Yep, but why you would acquire vet leaders if you don't have young guys to develop when you can have both just picking up another trade partner? I also think that Hoiberg would be the first to kick out Butler, Rondo and Wade to start a rebuild and work with a core of young guys lol, i just don't think he can decide ****, even if he's still Gar/Pax man.
If you have some pull with Morey/Mr Alexander....do it if it can be done! No complaints from me. Content & in Contention
Larry Sanders is what we need at center.... Ilyasova for brewer, onukau and a second (76ers needs minutes for saric and ben simmons) Belinelli, seth curry, ellington, waiters, swaggy p, miles are options Kj and a first for one of those above (probably curry or belinelli) Harden/Bev/Ennis Gordon/(Belinelli or Curry)/Brown Ariza/Dekker/Wiltjer Anderson/Ilyasova/Harrel Capela/Sanders/Nene Team has outstanding 3 point shooting with a deep core of bigs
Even with a 1st round pick (which is going to be around 25th probably), it's going to be a piece with a flaw. It's not going to be a great overall player (e.g. pre injury Rudy Gay) OR it's going to be someone on a bad contract (Chandler) OR we're going to have to send out a rotation player with the pick (Bev/Ariza + 1st). That's what people need to be realistic about. And it's a good problem to have, it just means most of our players are too valuable to our success to make them easily available in trade. I don't want the Bulls guys, what they did was messed up and they're even standing by it. I would have loved to get Butler but man that guy is just going to be a difficult teammate until he gets tired of not winning. Really don't like how Wade/Butler threw their teammates under the bus. That's your NBA family, you don't put them on blast like that even if you're right. During last season's Rockets disaster, we didn't hear a peep out of a bunch of guys who were disgruntled. We had to stitch together leaks from insiders and subtext in players interviews to kind of get an idea of what might be happening in the locker room. That's how it should be.
Where are the young players? Bulls are already stocked with young players 25 and under: Mirotic Carter-Williams McDermott Grant Portis Valentine Zipser Felicio In any event, this topic is exhausted if all you can do is ask questions that a simple google search could have prevented. You do not believe the trade is viable. No further discussion required.
I do too. How the hell can we get either Chandler or Gallinari away from the Nuggets? They keep winning so who knows... My trade targets are as follows: Gallo Wilson Chandler JJ Reddick Courtney Lee Jared Dudley
Yeah, those are a lot of "young" players, but how many of those are worth a shot at this point? How many of those would be your core if you have to rebuild? - Mirotic has been meh, inconsistent shooting and terrible defense, no improvements in three seasons...that's way they don't want to pay him but they want to trade him, he's also 26 so not that young anymore. - MCW has probably played the best basketball of his career as a rookie, can't shoot, can't make good decisions as a pg, already bounched between three (two of them rebuilding) teams in four years... - McDermott from what i saw played better than other guys this years, he can score/shoot but eh, i don't see him as a starter in this league, good bench player - Grant is just meh, mediocre talent, i'm not even sure there's any upside left there... - Zipser i don't really know this guy lol - Felicio seems interesting from what i saw but same here, a starter in this league? Imo he's just to undersized... Portis and Valentine are the guys worth a shot imo, but even then, they're not guys you want to build around, you definitely need better talent, that's why rebuilding teams are looking to tank, to pick top tier talent, which is what the Bulls clearly lack.
