I don't know how he fits but can we do a swap of Brewer + 2nd for Darrell Arthur? At least he can shoot edit....I see he has knee problems this year. who cares...maybe that means the Nuggets would trade him
Man butler is really unhappy over there and got punished for talking to the media - he wasn't starting and then went on to go 1-14 from the field for 3 points. I wonder what it takes to get him (99.9999% it's not going to happen) but it would be pretty nice tho
Agreed But I would start with Harden and DWADE then have BEV and Gordon come off the bench Ariza and Dekker at the SF It might cost us Anderson or someone similar Rocket River
And it's not even the first time Butler and the fo clash...but even if he's gone, i don't see him coming here, Ainge would be all over him, and with the Bulls going for a full rebuild it's a given that they will send him in Boston for the Brooklyn pick and other pieces (unless the Sixers or the Lakers step in with their picks and young talent/s)
The problem is they have no picks or assets. They could move reddick for a 1st to a third team, say Houston and would also have to ship out rivers and see what they could get because you have to pay to dump Crawford. And still that's not enough. Too much incoming salary. A Carmelo to clips is fantasy without including one of the big 3 or gutting the team
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gt5wq65 Just imagine if this were to go down... Ariza/Brew + picks for Jimmy Butler
The only thing we could get from the Bulls realistically is Taj Gibson and it would probably cost Brewer and our 2017 1st. I'm not even sure they would do that.
Absolutely no, why would they? If they're really going to trade Butler it means two things: 1. they're ready for a full rebuild, and if that's the case, they would have no interest in Ariza, they would look to take back picks and players in rookie scale. 2. Butler would be the only top player available as today so, all the teams out there looking to add a star would be all over the Bulls, and they can offer way more than what we can...Celtics, Sixers, Lakers, Magic, Wolves, Nuggets, Suns... I would love to trade for Butler but we just don't have the pieces to trade for him. I do think we can be in the mix in a trade for guys like Cousins, Millsap if they want to be here (and if we're willing to move Ryan) since they should have some power in trade scenarios at this point of their contract, but for Butler i think we've no chance.
Bulls were looking to rebuild last season and Bulls were in major trade discussions about Butler with Minny and Boston. That Bulls are willing to trade him is not the obstacle it's the price. Ariza, Brew, rights to Llull and a first would a helluva package. Bulls may ask for Dek or Trez instead of Llull so that could be painful but Rockets can be competitive if Ariza and first are main parts of package. Bulls are in major disarray right now with the Wade-Butler-Rondo BS. Would not be surprised to see all 3 gone before end of season. Especially with Butler attacking organization like he has. Beard-Splash Bev Butler Ryno-Dekker Larry Sanders-Capela-Nene Butler is a legit 2nd star to complement Harden on both O and D. Sign Gabe York and Jamaal Franklin to back up Bev and Butler. This team would be on lockdown defensively and offensively.
Would love Butler but I see no way we can outbid other offers. Lakers, Minny, and Boston has the prospects/picks that the Bulls want. Lakers have Ingram/Randle/Clarkson. I doubt they include Russell but you never know, Jim Buss could be desperate. That Zubac kid looks damn good lately. Boston has a million picks which includes the top 3 Brooklyn pick. Also have Jaylen Brown and Smart and good vets like Crowder and Bradley. Minny obviously have Wiggins/Lavine/Dunn and their own picks.
Minny wasn't going to give up Lavine AND Dunn last season and Boston also balked about giving up lottery first, what's changed that they would give these up now? And the Lakers suck, no one wants to help them. Ariza still has very good value.
Rank the needs: -stout post defender who can protect rim and rebound -versatile 3&d wing to replace brewer's minutes -backup pg or ball handler that can initiate offense
You and me both You and me both man! Love Ariza and don't hate Brew like so many on CF but Butler is not just a 2nd legit all star but his game would complement Harden's, fit MDA system well AND he actually improves the D as well as the O. Butler even adds another guy who can create and pass.
Nah dude, this is an horrible package for a star of a team looking for a rebuild...how can you even think we have a little chance when: - Boston can trade a top 3 pick of the next draft, Brown, Crowder or Bradley and other picks - Phila can trade one between Okafor and Noel, their pick, the Lakers pick, Saric - Lakers can trade Randle, Clarkson, picks, possibly Ingram (i don't believe this but you never know) - Denver can trade Mudiay or Murray, Harris, Nurkic, picks - Minnie can trade LaVine or Wiggins, Jones or Dunn, their pick - Orlando can trade Vucevic, Hezonja, Gordon, their pick, Payton (?) - Phoenix can trade Bender or Chriss, Warren, Ulis, Len, picks There's no way in hell a rebuilding team would pick a package of an old good role player, a mediocre 1st rounder, a 30 year old euro who's probably never going to play in the nba and a bad contract like Brewer...if you think that's possible imo you're dreaming.
Rank the needs: -stout post defender who can protect rim and rebound: Larry Sanders -versatile 3&d wing to replace brewer's minutes: Jimmy Butler -backup pg or ball handler that can initiate offense: Gabe York and/or Jamaal Franklin All three can be accomplished with a single trade. Larry Sanders, York and Franklin only need to be signed.
Can and will are completely different things. Hoiberg and the GM do not have a lot of time to trust the process with both young players or unproven picks. Rockets play similar fast paced offense that Hoiberg wants to run, Ariza and even Brewer are excellent leaders on and off court. Plus rights to Llull and an unprotected first? Rockets package is just as good as the guesses you are throwing out there for other teams. What I can't stand is the guy who doesn't try or have a solution but pisses on everyone else's ideas. Shoot for the moon man, you never know what you're going to hit if you don't even try.
That's what you're assuming, aside the fact that they may both be gone in the future, but logic should lead us to think that if they trade their only good core piece, it's because they want to rebuild, simply because that's what all the teams do. And when you rebuild you want good young players and picks, you think they would really want to rebuild around Rondo, Wade, Ariza, Gibson and Lopez? And i'm not trying to piss on your (and DonKnock) idea, i'm the first that would love to see that happening, i just want to keep your expectations low because i think that has literally zero chance to happen. There's no way in hell a rebuilding team IN THIS MARKET (which is full of good and desperate buyers) trades their star player for a late 1st, a good 32 years old role player, a bad contract/player like Brewer and Llull rights...
Let's be honest here, we are both assuming. The difference is that I'm discussing the specifics as they pertain to Chicago's current circumstances while you are generalizing about trade market value. Not saying I am right but it's not possible to have any kind of dialog if one or both of us is unwilling to yield a little in their stance.
