Put together this video for the upcoming season. Want to get yalls thoughts on what you like/dislike about it!
Love it. Great job. Only thing missing is some vintage Beltran highlights. Drone shot was sweet. Incredible all around. Nice pace and good background music.
nice job on the vid! Really small thing--Bregman's first appearance in the video with the slow-mo replay (~2:15 or so) can be timed better with the music vs. impact on bat. Otherwise, cool. Agree on w/awc on Beltran idea. Maybe some pitching highlights/K's also to round it out?
Made a slight change to the video by adding in some footage of Beltran from '04. Here's the new version
Thanks, and I agree, great job @texans1095!! My two favorite Beltran highlights from that series are probably the one where he took Tavarez (@2:24) deep on a pitch that looked like it was going to bounce in front of the plate and the diving catch he made in the gap in Left Center against the Cards (not shown). The guy was a beast that series: at the plate, on the bases, and in the field!! Needs some of that LMJR, Will Harris, and Ken Giles swing and miss footage!!
Catch at 1:30. Still have no idea how he got to it. Sidenote: I was at this game. Man I miss MMP being *that* loud. I know Houston will always be a football town, but its quite the underrated baseball town when the playoffs come knocking.
clicked on the video before i read this comment. I had the exact same thought just listening to it. Chills immediately from that noise level and enormity of that playoff game. Can't wait for it to happen again
I was at the the world series game 4, man MMP was loud... fondly remember the deafening "B G O" chants.
That game with the Backe gem, Beltran catch, and Kent walkoff still goes down as easily the greatest Astros game I've ever watched. Constant tension, big plays on both sides, and a stupid hot crowd. That whole series was amazing, and was sadly completely overshadowed by the Red Sox comeback (in which most of the games sucked) The marathon game with the Burke walkoff seems to be more known among the casuals, but that game doesn't hold a candle to game 5 of the 04 NLCS, even though we came up short.
I can't wait to see the new lineup in action this year. I know a lot of people want to see us another pitcher but I'm curious to what our record and winning percentage was last year we scored 4 or more runs in a game.
Apparently the Astros have interest in Matt Wieters. Yeah, I don't see where he fits, unless there's another move in the works.
All Average FIP for AL was 4.42 last year. Fiers is projected at 4.41. Granted, the average is driven way up by pitchers on bad teams.
I think your chiseling the average line much too thinly. I would widen average to anyone in the 4.00-4.80 range.
Initial post defined above average hitter as greater than 100 RC+. 4.42 FIP would be best fit, IMO, as a comparable pitching stat that easily is checked with projections.
REALLY have to stretch to see a spot for him, but there are 2 ways it makes some measure of sense: 1. He takes AOki's roster spot, Gattis goes to DH, and Beltran goes to LF. 2. They decide to keep 13 position players, and playing time and positions become an undefined split.
