Just plain stupid. I'd fine the guy if I was OKC.

That's the kind of unintelligent move that will stay with him for his career. Social media will not forget that one.

Looks like the chair played better defense on Kanter than Yi.

"Westbrook overcoming star center's absence averaging a triple double and willing OKC to the playoffs! MVP!"

    I can see it already

Ha, that was kind of what I was thinking, too. Somehow, this narrative will absolutely show up at some point down the line...

We're five games up on OKC right now. If they're close to us in the standings (within three or four games) by season's end despite Kanter breaking his arm and missing 6-8 weeks, I'd say give Westbrook the MVP.

One less player to help Westbrook get assists. And one less player to help the Thunder get wins and hopefully taper off in the playoff standings. Both of those would help Harden in his MVP quest.

That aside, this forum would be LIVID if an important player on the Rockets did something like that to miss that extensive time.

Capela missed like 5-6 weeks. What's the difference?

Seems to me like there is a constant search for reasons to give Westbrook the MVP despite prior voting standards

The difference is Kanter is a better overall player than Capela. Are you denying that Westbrook is having an amazing season? I think he's having a better personal season than Harden is, but I give the edge to Harden for MVP because of the team success. But if the gap in team achievement narrows, I'll give the edge back to Westbrook.

What prior voting standards are you talking about? The Curry pick over Harden? I picked Harden that year, but most advanced stats favored Curry and his team was eight games better by season's end. And his raw stats were deflated because he only had to play 32 minutes per game. The biggest argument against Curry was the strength of his supporting cast, but that doesn't apply in this year's race. Harden and Westbrook have similar talent around them.
