No. There was some talk about how Iraq's oil could help pay for the country's reconstruction, so the financial burden on the US wouldn't be as great as it would be if they didn't have oil. I'm not intimately familiar with the Iraqi budget, but surely some proceeds have been invested in infrastructure.

Really poor leadership from Nieto and Mexico. He just pussied out when instead he could have met and talked the talk. Oh, and the peso is tanking even more today. What a chicken **** idiot.

    Perhaps merits its own thread...
The State Department’s entire senior management team just resigned

Not really. When it comes to Mexico paying for the wall, there is nothing to talk about. It's a non-starter.

Real talk: are you a bot? I mean, seriously? What world leader, much less a neighbor/ally/trade partner, would show up after being threatened and disrespected?

So find your balls and say it to his face.

Folks are saying, finally someone stood up to Trump but I see through it. He didn't stand up, he ran. What a p***y.

Remember when Obama should've got back on the plane in China when they didn't have a red carpet for him or whatever?

Well that changes things. I wonder when we will hear who is being brought in to replace them.

He did say it to his face, and announced it in public. You have a strange definition of running away. Better to not waste time.

you don't run from bullies, you face them. he released a video from mexico city, looking real tough LOL. he could have faced the "bully" on tuesday and told him to his face NO! but he's scared. he could have said let's build two walls (both southern borders) to secure both of our countries (symbolically, wall won't work) and to share the costs. so many ideas he could have discussed. instead he offered nothing. what a joke of a leader. that is not what leadership is all about.

When Trump flew to meet him before, he told Trump to his face. He isn't running. He's being productive and ignoring the big mouth. I get it that you've adopted the excuse anything from Trump persona, but this isn't really working here.

Yeah because Trump tried to bully him into a deal on the wall and he's not having it. Why even talk with that guy? Ah well, I guess China will be swooping in where we don't. Such strength!

Mexico don't and won't trust China. They know how corrupt they are.

He should have met and in that meeting say listen, we're not paying for the wall but let's find some common ground (securing both southern borders, drug war, for example) and move on that. Instead he b****ed out and guess what wall is still gonna be built and he gets nothing, oh and the peso is tanking. He could have got something for his country if he was a real leader. He gets nothing and the "wall" is still happening.

-edit- I should add, that Mexico has said US can build a wall it's their right they just won't pay for it. What a missed opportunity for Mexico and Nieto here. You could have gotten something for a wall you don't care about and flipped that into filling a need for you own people that you can't fulfill alone. Again, just poor forward thinking and very poor leadership.

-edit- btw... Trump did go to Mexico even with all that campaign heat. He wasn't scared to show up.

Yeah, and he didn't discuss who'd pay for the wall during that visit.
