Um, I don't think Obama DID THE EXACT SAME THING. I've seen indirect reports saying similar controls have been used in previous administrations, but nothing stating specifically what Obama or other previous admins did. Exact same thing is probably a stretch, but no one here is arguing the actual points of the EO, they are reacting to the general concept. In which case the term applies. It certainly doesn't change the argument any. If I were to change 'exact same thing' to 'very similar actions', the argument isn't changed at all.
OK, so it was not the "SAME EXACT THING". I was pretty precise in questioning that it was the same thing as what Obama did. Which you put in all caps, which warranted even more of a challenge flag. And yes, it changes the argument significantly. Actually, having an agency hold off from social media is somewhat reasonable (at least until the new leadership was in place). But the extent of what Trump's team ordered, coupled with the agencies targeted (implication is its a vindictive act) is what drew more attention and criticism.
I would be more impressed if they didn't anonymously send leaks showing corruption in the DNC. It would be better if they actually were whistle blowers who used emails or memos for evidence to back up their claims. I would love it. I would love it even more if they actually mentioned the problem to their supervisors and tried to get them to fix it internally before taking externally.
Obama didn't do the EXACT same thing. Similar, yes, but not exactly the same. 8 years ago a simple media blackout was issued for a few days - This year Trump has added Social Media to the blackout and thats why Social Justice Warriors are just now hearing about it..because now it affects them too. Remember, 8 years ago Social Media as a news source wasn't nearly what it is today.
If it's standard practice for a short transition period, then it is. It is not if this practice continue for an extended time.
i agree that trump is a "r****ded conspiracy theorist". trump is the one comparing branches of our government to nazis (and then blaming the media for reporting on him making that comparison).
