Do you believe we're gonna win a championship this year?

If we do, it will be because of Harden. Houston hasn't even sniffed a conference championship until Harden was acquired.

I believe we have a decent chance. Best chance in a long time.

The Rockets will go as far as the 3 point shooting will take them. If they lose in the playoffs, it's not going to be because of Harden's turnovers but more so because they weren't able to make 3's.

It will be because of turnovers and lack of interior defense dude.

    False choice.

Either we win a championship or harden isn't good enough. False.

If the clippers don't win a championship does that mean they need a new pg? How about Cleveland? Golden state didn't win last year maybe they do?

You may be right that hardens turnovers kill the team, but it takes more than simply not winning a title for you to be right.

I do but only if we trade for Ricky Rubio to be the primary playmaker and move Harden off the ball

Quoted and "marking your words" for haterdom and flat out being hoh.

I'm glad you can predict failure from the current best player in the league.

I'd make some kind of tip jar bet or stop posting bet but I know your history of not paying or changing names.

Turnovers won't lose us the playoffs. Your half right that our defense will be the problem and if we flame out it will be because we aren't hitting shots.

If we shoot 35+% from three and play average defense, I bet we make the conference finals. No matter the turnovers.

Against gsw, we could average 5 tovs as a team, shoot 35%+ from deep, and play average defense and still lose the series.

Your not the smartest person in the room just because you talk the most.

Less than a month till trade-deadline. The wild 8-seed chase in the west, the stabilizing of Hawks and the rise of Philly do not seem to help the trade outlook for us.

Let's hope the Suns loses a few more.

Correct on the fallacy there, but from my experience reading any version of these Harden turnover threads, there are constant fallacies at work. Almost no one is actually debating the pertinent facts.

    Examples:
Harden is a fantastic player and discussing his turnovers means you think he is terrible.
This idea is goofy because the OP is just the same old Jopat.
Harden's 2017 turnovers aren't an issue because he led us to the conference finals.
If we lose in the playoffs, it will be due to everything other than Harden's turnovers.

    C'mon guys.

I'm convinced that we're still riding the wave of positive emotions from December's run. Come the playoffs, this won't be fun and games anymore.

In January, James is averaging the most turnovers so far this season (5.3 Nov, 5.9 Dec, 6.5 Jan). So this isn't an issue that is showing improvement over time. Secondly, he had his third and fourth ten turnover games of the season.

In another thread, I wrote a post explaining how we play like a 50 win team when Harden has 7+ turnovers, and a 64 win team when he has 6 or less.

That's all I'm asking for, keep the turnovers to 6 or less.

The only we're winning the championship this year is if the Rockets solidify their bench. Adding a backup PG, a PF/C, and/or getting a decent 3+D Wing player.

I agree with this and would like to improve his tovs by about 2 also. But how detrimental is it actually?

What's more detrimental to this team. Harden getting 8 tovs or the team shooting 33% or less from deep?

Harden with 5 tovs and team shooting 33% is likely a 50/50 proposition. 8 tovs and 33% is probably 30/70 in favor of a loss.

Meanwhile, 38% with 5 tovs is likely 80/20 and 38% with 8 tovs is probably 70/30. This Utah game where he got an insane amount and we shot decent is the only game I can recall this season we lost while shooting so efficient.

I'm at work so I can't pull numbers, but maybe you can @heypartner ?

I didn't present that choice. False interpretation. Harden is good enough. But he's not humble enough nor wise enough.

I guess you're referring to my post last night to Tha_Dude regarding poor shooting nights.

Surprisingly, the Rockets are better than both GSW and SAS when we shoot <= 33% from 3.

    Rockets 8-6
    SAS 6-5
    GSW 6-6

    This is from another thread.

Here are the numbers when Harden has >= 8 TOs

    Rockets are 6-4

btw: I've been looking at this another way. Will post a thread of a somewhat different analytic approach. Hint: It's based on some MDA quotes, and has to do with Stockton and Utah being a litmus test to compare Harden and the Rockets to. (Nash and PHX also seem to fit the analysis.)

    Agree with you completely.

    1) Harden is a great player
    2) Harden's turnovers are a problem
    3) I don't know if we can win with his turnovers or not
    4) Jopat is often times ridiculous
    5) Jopat is also very dedicated to information gathering from multiple online sources
    6) Jopat does make good points at times
    7) If we lose in the playoffs (and the odds are that we will) the cause will be determined then
    8) We should take steps to improve the team, including finding ways to cut down on turnovers
