From a career teacher's perspective on this point.... A high entry barrier with traditionally low pay will create a shortage of teachers and increase the class size. Accountability has already greatly shifted to the teacher for student performance. At some point, students have to be held accountable for their performance. In addition so much emphasis is put on standardized testing that teachers are not teaching to educate...they are teaching to pass a test. I am a basketball coach that teaches English III and English IV classes. I also have a masters degree. In my school district, we have highly qualified teachers. There are no emergency certificates or teachers that are not teaching in their field of expertise The quality of the educators is not always the issue. High quality teachers, high quality involved parenting, a curriculum that does not focus on test results, and students willing to make the effort is the formula you may be looking for.

Without getting into politics, I would like to thank you for your work with kids. I agree that teachers are underpaid, underappreciated, and unfairly made the scapegoats for other problems in our education system. My youngest has been deeply involved in athletics throughout her time in school (now a senior and plays for the high school's basketball team) and I also thank you for the additional time and energy you spend with kids in athletics.
Thank you. Basketball is a long brutal season. The fact that we practice T-Fri from 6-8 am makes the season all that much harder. 8 games and 3 weeks of practice left. Best of luck to your daughter in her season and post secondary education!
Thanks. Unfortunately she re-injured the same foot she broke two years ago. No breaks this time, but she damaged nerves in her foot and at best gets back the last two games of her senior season. She's the ultimate Morey offensive player (37% FG%, 38% 3FG%, 47% adjusted FG%). Unlikely to play college but waiting on Texas State and Sam Houston applications.
I think it's something where you'd have to grandfather existing teachers for a period of time. You're not going to kick out a bunch of teachers right away. I just think we need to emphasize the importance of having the best people possible in the teaching profession. Education is a foundation for everything we do as a country. We need to treat it like that. Right now it seems like an afterthought. The pay is I'm sure one reason why more people do not go into teaching. What is your explanation for why funding continues to increase but results do not improve? Administrative costs?
Which results do you mean. Test scores, college entrance and readiness, graduation rates... As for teacher salaries, I can't recall the last state level raise in teacher pay, although my district has done a semi decent job of supplementing our pay each new year. I'm capped out at my teacher salary scale with 24 years in the trenches. I have 5 years until I retire, and my biggest boost in pay will be when I get out of my two child support payments.
Everybody stole my answers so I'll just focus on the opiate epidemic: - Pass a law to end television ads of prescription medication. - Implement a tax and/or severe fine of pharmaceutical companies who have been found, in the past, present, and future to have excessively lobbied doctors to sell prescription opiates. Require doctors to get the consent of another physician,, every time, for more than one prescription of anything more powerful than Tylenol 3. Stronger opiate medication should be provided by hospital physicians. - Holding the pharma lobby accountable during my time in office will be my crowning achievement. - If you haven't guessed, some kind of universal health care will need to be involved one way or another. - I don't know how to pay for this, but more funding for mental health facilities. - Pass a national medical mar1juana law; high THC strains will only be administered to chronically ill patients, CBD oil will be widely available. Included in this bill will be financial incentives for the pharmaceutical industry to adopt responsible practices and research Cannabis's augmentation of the analgesic effect of opiods as well as other pain reduction effects of Cannabis. - Require states who pass legal recreational mar1juana to have a treatment fund for drug addicts. This will encourage states hardest hit by the epidemic to pass responsible legislation for mar1juana legalization. Citizens will have the right to purchase or possess weed suspended if they are caught with any Schedule I drug. - Eliminate mandatory minimums for drug-related offenses and install nationwide drug courts for possession offenses. Focus on long-term treatment of addiction w/ simultaneous workforce programs. - Improve access to methadone and Buprenorphine. - provide naloxone to every Fire Department in the country. - Trim the fat off of the military budget, and perhaps aspects of the NSA to fund increased intelligence for border security. Share resources and continue to work w/ Mexico to fight cartels. I'm sure there's something I missed but I'll finalize the details when I get to D.C.
The first thing I will do as president is to put all of you annoying lefties in a FEMA camp. I will also make you work your asses off if you want to eat, there will be no free meals in my camp. That is all...carry on.
I would start a registry for orange people. They are a huge threat to our nation. I would make sure orange people are monitored, and possibly deport them from our country. One gets in the white house and look at what happens.
Cry......can you imagine a worse job than president of these "United" States? I almost feel sorry for Drumpf, he's gonna hate the next 4 years.
no one had thought of this...,this what's separate President from Pretenders.. "All bureaus and the department have been directed by incoming administration to shut down Twitter platforms immediately until further notice"
End birthright citizenship - new citizenship requirement will be land ownership (.25 acre minimum) and a period of service (military or otherwise). Eliminate controlled substance regulation - put whatever you want in your body Legalize prostitution - put whatever you want in your body, and if someone is willing to pay you to do so, good on you Eliminate all legal recognition of marriage and any associated privileges and responsibilities - you can commit yourself to whoever you want in your private ceremonies, but you don't get rights denied to single people as a result Define personhood as beginning at conception - no need for other abortion related laws, just charge people who get or perform abortions with first degree murder Eliminate entitlement programs as they currently exist - the safety net will be provided with free clinics, free housing, free food, etc., each of which would provide basic minimum requirements Overturn Wickard v. Filburn and its progeny - the interstate commerce clause will henceforth only allow the passage of laws that actually deal with interstate commerce Repeal the Civil Rights Act - the government is not allowed to discriminate based on the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment, private citizens should be able to discriminate as they will, even if they own a restaurant, hotel, or bus line Constitutional amendment that every law must contain language pointing out which of the enumerated powers granted to congress is being used to support the law Eliminate the Department of Education - education is a local issue, and there is no need for a national education policy, nor constitutional support for such Ditto the Departments of Agriculture, Housing and Urban Development, Labor, and Health and Human Services - for the same reasons Get rid of all federal gun control - you want a machine gun, grenade launcher, or main battle tank? Have at it Eliminate all spending unrelated to the enumerated powers granted to the government (NIH, NEA, FDA, etc.) Increase funding to NASA, reorganizing it under the Department of Defense, with a focus on power projection in space - make space American territory and defend it against any incursions Reduce taxes to a flat tax (or possibly a consumption tax) - with the drastic reduction in entitlement spending, less revenue will be required, even with the increase in defense spending
You know even though I disagree with you on some of your policies I appreciate your honesty in sharing what you're specifically for and against.
Even so, at least it's out in the open as a reference for what each poster here stands for. It lays down more specifics than LOLOLOL libtard and Drumpf supporter labels.
