It's ridiculous that the Patriots played terribly by their standards and still comfortably won by 18 and put up 34 points. The Texans/Pats are about even when it comes to talent level, except for the QB position.
Obviously they played like sh't tonight but still covered the spread and somehow many fans here feeling good about our chances if "not for a few plays"? LOL
That and the fact that he is the best Coach in the NFL to make half time adjustments..... Most coaches just stick with their same game plan. T_Man
Can't say I expected anything else... We fought hard but you can't win very many games being as bad as we are in the red zone.
They say it's a bad QB class every year. It's a cop out by the NFL coaches who routinely do a poor job evaluating & developing the QB position.
If you play a virtually perfect game and the coach harps on the negatives, his team is going to tune him out. That whole boy-who-cried-wolf thing. Don't assume that what he says to the media is also how he handles his players. Every good leader knows how and when to balance praise and criticism, and he's certainly an incredible leader.
Yeah, QB and special teams. Texans played decent, it's just sucks the spread was covered. That was main hopes this game, because we likely were going to lose handily anyways. Still a good season considering injuries. Hope for better health next year and further development of players. A good draft would be nice.
You give any of the top QB in the NFL this team's offense...and it doesnt look like ****. Guaranteed. This team has tons of talent except in the position that currently matters.
If you look at the speed on the Pats offense - all their players move like Akeem Hunt , Braxton Miller ...Grimes. For some reason Lamar looks a lot slower than he did in Miami...he's not even elusive anymore.
Fuller's MO is to drop the ball. If you draft him and he drops the ball you can't pretend that was simply "luck."
Damn...Clowney and Mercilus were balling last night. Clowney is straight up a game wrecker. Clowney is much more scarier than I thought he would be. The guy doesnt look to make a tackle...he looks to end you. There were several plays where Clowney wrecks a usually effective screen play from the Patriots. He gets skinny and explodes into the backfield. Mercilus looked surprisingly agile in coverage. He is one of the nicest dudes, but really elevated his play last night. He had a terrific game. Finally, I really thought the game plan of having either Clowney or Mercilus over the center on rushing downs was a great decision. These guys are just too fast off the line. Really wished that the Texans took a more conservative approach with Watt at the beginning of the season. Imagine what all three could've done this game. Cant say great job defense, as #25 reared his ugly head and was abused a lot throughout the game. Bouye had a bogus PI early on...but really played well. JJo did his job. Moore looked lost out there. Not having Demps hurt alot in the 2ndary.
Randy Bullock is to the Texans as BOB is to the Patriots. First down and 10, down by 15 pts with 10 minutes to go, BOB elected to run on the first play. Then Brock gets sacked on the next play then it was 4 and out. Only BOB would run the ball in that situation, they didn't play to win. I think the score in the first half shocked BOB, I don't think he plan to win this game.
Defense next year should be elite assuming we retain Bouye and get back a healthy Watt, Kevin Johnson, & Demps (or draft upgrade). Offense...I really think the only good players we have are Hop, Brown, & Miller. Rest of the OL is incredible average. Fuller is terrible - dude has Trump hands. CJ has shown flashes but not much more. Can we please have a massive shakeup?
Good God free agent QBs never pan out. They must be developed. I swear everyone thinks Drew Brees type QBs just get released every year.
Hard to get excited about watt coming back with clowney and mercilus when you know the offense is still gonnabe trash if they go with Brock next year.
