Can we trade tony allen and Randolph? Seems our existing defence and offence are not enough

I don't know much about Holmes; but many talk highly of him. His 0.9 blks per game is good compared
to others talked about. Casspi would be a nice pick up.

Point I was trying to make earlier about trying to match an "All Big" or "All Small" lineup against us is that
we can get by because Ariza & Dekker can slide over & help cover in a Small or Big lineup. Injury to Ariza
or Dekker hurts or chances because we would have to play Brew & KJ more. Casspi helps in coverage
because he has played SF/PF in the past. Low cost of Holmes helps as a safety net if Ryno/Nene/or
Capela get injured. It would be nice to see Wiltjer & Chinanu shine in playoff time when the pressure is
on; but will they. Hear Holmes is versatile.

Out of the list @theDude posted, my biggest target would be Gallo. But I strongly think we need to get improvement upfront because although we love them, Montrezl and NeNe is not enough. I think we should upgrade both spots.

So @Mathloom says we need both (PG/SG); but would go with SG in post #1157.

I say we need combo SG/SF & Rim Protector; I would rather not get just one......I would go a little
cheap & try to get both (decent production-low cost). Saw that Acy (Nets) had 9 pts in 5 mins.3-3 from field ...
1-1 (3-pt) last night . Probably garbage time; but I'm going to be watching his numbers closely. For
those who don't know I pushed for Acy earlier in the season....to allow for bigger move at Center.

@BigMaloe you want both (PG/SG & Big); but would rather go Big body. Is that correct? One solid move
for one solid player at Center? Assuming the Rockets can't afford 2 solid players @ 2 positions of need.

@D-rock what route would you go?

@theDude how would you play the Rockets move(s)?

*Side Note.......other elite teams look like they are struggling with teams with big bodies
near the rim. GSW's vs Memphis twice & Cavs just lost to Utah recently.

I like both those deals. People are telling me teams wont take those guys. Can these deals be made
    using 2nd round pick(s)? I'm coming to terms Brewer can't be moved w/o 1st rd'er attached.

I've had most most discussions with the above 4 individuals......don't mean to exclude anyone.

*Side Note: if Brewer remains; he needs to be used offensively like Warriors use Livingston.
Point of attack more often....his shot often looks better/more confident after a few buckets
at the rim/FT's. Predominantly as spot up shooter won't work. Livingston can't shoot for distance
as well so they try to force a switch on a point guard.....Brewer might be able to take
advantage of the mismatch as well. Harden makes for a good spot up shooter to compliment
    Brewer at times.

I hope Morey can find a way to get Tim Frazier from NO. With Ty Evans back, Frazier barely gets playing time. He can be a playmaker and another scorer.

B/R posted a nice little video link on how the Rockets attack offensively (along with Spurs,
Warriors & Raptors). One can get an idea of who fits the system by way of trade.

I really like McDaniels, Denver's 2017 2nd and Gentile for Will Barton.

Replaces Brewer's minutes in the rotation and gives us more protection against Gordon/Beverley missing time.

Yeah we're almost guarenteed to face one of those teams and the outcome is going to disappoint a lot of us. But I would still opt to trade someone like Hamilton than try to chase a bigger name and mess with our rotation.

I still think the best value available is Tyson Chandler. If you can get over the length of the contract, he's the best players Vs cost to acquire. He is still playing great and would improve our biggest weakness.

I think we could keep our 1st also. Brewer is a bad contract but not as long or as much money, but not as productive so it's not an entire salary dump. You give up Kj and a 2nd and your in discussion.

I really think a good deal involves philly

    Philly gets: chriss/ennis/brewer/hou1st

    Phoenix gets: noel/kj

    Houston gets: tyson/stauskas

PHX would be brain-dead to trade Chriss. Him and Booker are the future of that franchise.

This deadline should be interesting to see.

With the new CBA it has become much more difficult to poach other players in free agency, thus we probably have little shot at some of the big names.

I wonder if Morey will just trade for an expiring player or two he is interested in resigning with bird rights, while abandoning the capspace route, and then just toss the MLE at Llull.

Gallo, Nurkic, Noel, Chandler, Faried, Chandler, Bogut, Dwill, Milsap, Noel, Thabo, Aflalo, Lopez, Dragic are mostly all good rotation players which could help this team in one way or another.

Right now, we are a very strong 1-8, and okay 9,10. If we get even deeper, we can rest guys longer and create alot of versatility in our lineups to create mismatches.

Our problem, is we have no real salary filler to send out, especially to match larger salaried guys like Gallo, Chandler and Milsap. That Dmo fiasco really bit us in the ass, as his money would have been a contract to use as filler.

Willie Cauliey-Stein is just rotting on the Kings bench. DNP 4 games straight. For the guys saying Tyson Chandler, WCS is a 23 yr old version of Tyson Chandler. James' arm would fall off from exhaustion after a season of throwing lobs to Clint, WCS and Trez. I don't know how Morey would do it but that would be sweet

I think your forgetting about bender.
I think 1st rd picks have become much more valuable under the new cba because what you said about free agency.

From now on your gonna have to draft or trade for a star player, with signing one much less likely

    Shameless plug alert:

If anyone hasn't seen, I had Daryl on my podcast yesterday and asked him about A) if this is a contender and B) what that means for the team's approach at the deadline. Thought his answers were fairly candid... he says he's not expecting a MAJOR move, but it sounds like he's putting a pretty high emphasis on this season and planning to make "depth" moves.

This was a great podcast Cat, you've gotten really good at this. I hope Morey does more interviews with you in the future as your interview was much better than anything on talk radio.
