We miss way too many layups every game (Dekker/Gordon/Brewer/Bev); Zero rebounding from bigs (hurry back Capela & yearly Morey trade) zero rim protection; James needs to be more careful with the ball; need another playmaker that can attack & score off the dribble when teams crowd the 3pt line. Need another 3-D wing defender that can help spell Ariza.
3-point shooting teams will always be streaky in game. That's what you get with a high variance offense.
The Warriors blew a 22 pt lead to this same Memphis team a week ago. When Memphis uglies up the game on you it's hard to beat them. Rockets still should have won this game if not for the horrible shooting. I don't like to make excuses but our schedule has been awful, just need to survive the Allstars break and get healthy. Rockets will be fine.
Incapable of playing shutdown defense and a team that shoots a bunch of teams will naturally get into slumps. We desperately need a post presence to give the team easy, consistent scoring. This team with Yao in his prime would be stupid good
because we keep chucking 3s while the other team starts making their own shots because of our mediocre defense. If anything next time we get a 15 point lead, we should start making lay-ups until we're up 30, THEN start chucking 3s.
Teams are going to study the way Memphis plays us. Against Memphis we made the mistake of playing at a pace Memphis likes because we had a big lead, we kept walking up the ball allowing their defense to get set, compounded by us allowing them to shoot a high percentage in our two losses to them. We also have to realize when are 3's are not falling we need to take it to the rim more and still shoot open 3's when they arise. When Ryno is not hitting his 3's post him up or else he is not doing anything on offense. Memphis had Gasol and Zbo handling in the post and moving the ball we need to try that. Memphis and T'Wolves kept going inside and getting a lot points in the paint and out rebounding us. We are supposed to attack the rim and shoot 3's, tonight we missed a lot of open 3's and blew lay ups and got badly outrebounded, that happens on some nights but not very often for this team and it has been the cause of the few losses. No need to panic, we are still a good team, these problems will be a concern in the playoffs when teams study us but they can be fixed. Getting another big that can rebound and protect the paint and getting Gordon healthy so he can attack the rim more when they are forcing the ball out of Harden's hands is our solution.
I'm just gonna add that there is a reason why we loose to teams like the Jazz,Atlanta,Grizz twice already due to being bullied in the paint when 3's don't fall against teams like tonight...some playoff games might look a lot like tonight and when/if this happens expecting Capela to dominate by himself might be asking for too much in his young career on a consistent basis..we shall see...I'd love to see Capela exceed expectations in playoffs tho it's gonna be a tall order to say the least
Its Harden Harden giveth Harden taketh Dude is so lazy with the ball in 3rd it cost us at least 3-4 games..On the other hand his game gave us 20-25 wins. I wrote about this many times, dude cant stay focused enough Every turnaround a team has against us starts when Harden gets really lazy with the ball. Dont believe me, go check each game we lost like this
The guys forgot to bring their lunch pails to dinner. The Grizzlies eat them for breakfast. It is time for a serious players-only meeting.
He missed quite a few of those wearing a Rockets Jersey. The bigger mystery would be why Ryan Anderson doesnt shoot the better percentage at the Toyota Center as he does on the road.
Only harden is stable shooter, other teammates shoot poorly with bad defence. Maybe need to trade all stars player to join. Michael Beasley is good for this team, I really dont know why morey let him go. This team is very close to champion. Morey needs to remain this team and make a good trade, otherwise it can only reach semi final
