WTF does Godsey do? I understand that O'Brien has "taken over playcalling" and the playcalling is still horrendous but he shouldn't have to because Godsey is useless. Hire a feakin OC and fire the Godfather Smith!

There's more than one thing to blame for "15 years of mediocrity" (your words). Players, coaches, GM. owner, fans. But to blame the inability of a QB guru offensive-minded coach to produce an offense that is short of embarrassing on the GM is missing the mark. Remember, the coach said the offense needed speed so the GM got him speed at receiver (2) and running back (2). Got him the highest rated free agent QB at the time last year. Yet only one of those has had a successful season. If O'Brien wants out it's because three things have gone against him:

    1. The Patriots offense didn't really need him to be successful 2. Penn State has done very well without him 3. His current offense sucks.

If he keeps this up, no one is going to want to hire him as a head coach after this. He needs to fix this offense (or hire an OC) to prove his coaching skills. (He gets some credit for the defense, but not a whole lot).

Mike McCoy. Anthony Lynn. Rick Denison. Musgrave.

Unfortunately for the Texans, these names are quickly being snapped up by the non-playoff teams.

If there are any staff moves this off-season, replacing Godsey has to be at the top of the to-do list. I'll be moderately shocked if that actually happens...but, IMO, it's an obvious move.

Chip Kelly is out there. If he's not going to get a major college hc job or a NFL hc job, he's said he's open to the possibility.

Bill O'Brien gives inkling why Caserio turned down 49ers meeting

Crazy that this is still being pushed by some. He can't leave and stay in the NFL unless Bob McNair just wants to do him a solid....and I don't think that is happening.

Then Bill OBrien wouldn't be able to decide between Garoppolo or Kaepernick and carousel them all season

And he won't have all the first round picks on defense that the Texans have.

I agree w this sentiment but if BoB really is hell bent on leaving McNair would be the type of owner to do him a solid. That said I still think this is BoB's way of creating leverage to get rick outta the way which I fully support.

More like Rick smith gets a "Promotion" and caserio comes in as our GM after Bill gets his way.

BOB actually hasn't. I saw Godsey calling plays the last 3 or 4 games including the Raiders playoff game. It seems they go back and forth and I can't find any particular pattern.

As for why Godsey is here it's because he knows BOBs system because he was a QB who played it at GT under BOB.

I don't think Godsey has done a bad or good job but I wouldn't be upset if they replaced him with a guy like Chad O'Shea from the Pats. He's got tons of experience, he's familiar with BOB, he's a UH grad, played QB for the Coogs, and supposedly a damn good coach.

When all else fails, blame the guy you like the least. Easy to do because we still really don't know who is responsible for what around there.
