Frankly speaking, nothing can be done until Brewer's contract is gone. If Morey think Hayward or any other big free agent wants a piece of the D(antoni) methinks he's going to have to strap a 1st Rounder to Brewer's ass in order to move him out.
Excellent. We probably have a 3 year window with this group of guys. Ariza is the oldest around 32 currently. The rest are 27, 28ish. With the cap space available next year, I don't want us to jump the gun to trade away one or more of Ariza, Bev, Gordon, Anderson, Clint. Some say only championship matters so we should try to make us better this year right now. I disagree. I am fine with us finishing 60+ wins and make it two the 2nd round existing with a good fought series. In the off-season, the big name free agents will see us as a good career option. At that time, we can try tweaking even more like freeing up more spaces.
@don grahamleone Brought back good memories of the Rockets. Have a good day. Idk If others see this....if Dekker puts on about 8 pounds of muscle over the summer. Answer to back up PF is with the team now. We could go Ryno/Harrell/Dekker like this year or sacrifice Ryno (figuratively) & go with Dekker/Harrell. Never had the drink....but they might do for a warmup leading to stronger stuff. Cheers to a great Rockets season!!
I still believe theres a strong chance we trade Brewer, KJ and a pick for Gay. Gay has an option and you clear cap space for Hayward while adding a superior player in the interim for the playoffs.
Would we have the cap room needed to sign players like Gordon Hayward Rudy Gay Danilo Gallinari Or try and poach guys like Porter Roberson Bojanovic (Nets F) Warren
Yes we can. The rule states you can't owe two consecutive draft picks. We do not currently owe anyone a first round pick and are free to trade our draft pick.
You can't owe two consecutive picks. No rule stopping you from trading picks in consecutive years after they have been used. The Suns did this multiple times when they were dumping first rounders. I think Morey has even done it a few times.
Yes I know the rule, you are misunderstanding it. See the bolded section. Past picks do not factor in. The only picks that factor in are future picks. You cannot owe consecutive future draft picks.
As an example, PHX dumped their first round pick every year from 2005 to 2007, including twice in 2006.
http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...rail_blazers_involved_in_multi-team_trad.html Why Cleveland needed to do deal before Korver deal. Not sure new CBA changed things. Note the updated date:Jan. 09,2017 http://basketball.about.com/od/collegebasketballglossary/g/ted-stepien-rule.htm
Haha no worries brother Clutchfan! It happens. @basketballholic educated me about simultaneous transactions and it blew me away.
I believe the Rockets can obtain a first and trade it or own 1st after obtaining a 1st....or swap first round picks this year.....only.
