2 months after the election and the left is still struggling why they lost. They claim they accept Trump as president but they are still trying to delegitimize his victory and fault external sources instead of accepting their party has long lost touch of its base.

Its time to move on from this Russia nonsense and focus on American politics, like the failing Obamacare and trying to sway trump from wasting money building a fence.

There you have it, proof that this poster is in fact r****ded. Nevermind 20+ pages saying that isn't the fact, he still doesn't get it. If you want to argue with him, it's on you after this...not him.

We've actually had multiple congressional and FBI investigations about that. Some of that is different than what we have with this Russian espionage and attempt to damage our democracy.

You are making stuff up. People have said that Russia's espionage doesn't delegitimize the election. You've ignored it over and over, and keep pretending like folks are still arguing that.

You are already on record for advising the United States to ignore and allow espionage targeting our democratic process. That pretty much lessens to a great degree most of what you have to say about this topic.

Why is identity of the hacker being emphasized for this one particular case? Did anyone care about the identity of the hackers in connection to the November 2010 email leaks? Or the Sydney Blumenthal leaks? Or the Donald Trump tax leaks? Or any other leaks? Does it matter that it was Edward Snowden and not Jamie Jimenez?

In each case, the answer is that no one really cares. However, when it comes to the 2016 DNC email hack, everything changes. Suddenly it is no longer about subject matter but rather meta-data.

I think it is worth emphasizing that other state actors have recently hacked into the US. What's more, is that they have actually hacked the national GOVERNMENT. China hacked into the Office of Personnel Management and stole the records of 4,000,000 individuals. I have yet to read about the eviction of any Chinese diplomats or the sanctioning of China.

And let's be honest, the 2016 DNC hack was not nearly as damaging as the November 2010 leaks which themselves were not nearly as damaging as the Sydney Blumenthal leaks, for Hillary Clinton. Overall, the most damaging claim against Clinton was her own ill reputed character.

You really cannot contort yourself any further than you have to justify your "opinions".

Let me make it as simple for you: RUSSIA INTENTIONALLY ATTEMPTED TO COMPROMISE THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN THE UNITED STATES AND ERODE THE SANCTITY AND VALIDITY OF OUR BASIC DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM.

If you still don't see what the issue is, then you either have a large pole jammed into your cerebral cortex or you are being purposely obtuse.

If Hillary won, this thread would never have made it past page one, much less 48.

If SG think so, it must be true.

Of course SG conveniently forgot who said the election was rigged before the election. My imagination is that Trump and his core supporters wouldn't be so acceptance of a lost. And if they found that said there was Russia involvement, I imagine they turn that around and question everything about the election, about machine being rigged - i mean, it's an electronic device and if Russia can so easily compromise DNC, why can't anyone compromise voting machines. Not Reliable! Can't be trust! Rigged! Of course, that's just my imagination. And I think it's completely foolish to equate my imagination to being it must be true.

Well, that would mean that Putin and the Russian government failed at their desired outcome so yes rationally it would be talked about less.

Just checking it to make sure it's still groundhog day around here. LOL.

As others have said, that's a false narrative on the whole. Most of the left really understands that they've lost touch and gotten too ****ing prissy and snotty for a lot of America. Tons of articles have been written about this, many of them posted and discussed on this very site. So I don't understand, other than being inundated by the msg via Fox News, why you would keep saying that. Russia is not why the Dems lost the Presidential election. We had a candidate with very high negatives and unsuccessfully tried to trot out the same old identity politics while ignoring Joe and Flo six pack. This is a stale topic but better for another thread in any case.

Trump will probably be a terrible president and is off to a truly awful start in terms of transparency, temperament, communication, etc. But he's our president. Most of the left is not trying to delegitimize him. In fact, many of us are praying, trying and hoping to legitimize him -- hopefully some cogent, clear, data-based criticism will get through to someone on his team that: (1) he won! he can quit acting like a reality TV candidate moron now, (2) needs to do more than one sentence of conciliatory language if he wants to unite this fractured country, and (3) don't ignore the rules, Mr. President. Embrace, own and respect the rules.

It's not Russia nonsense, as a significant bipartisan part of the Senate agrees. McConnell the soulless turtle be damned. When he says "grow up" to anyone opposing things like skipping ethics checks and conflicts of interest investigations (in an unprecedented way), it is instead people like him who need to grow up. He needs to understand they have ultimate power now: House, Senate, and the White House. Don't draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and try to cheat on the next series of plays. Act like you've been in the end zone before, talk to your new president about procedure, go through the normal ethics checks, and govern like a freaking professional instead of a developing world hack.

But yes, there are more important issues than Russia's bold intervention, but that intervention is still important. We need to understand this rabbit hole, for the good of our country. It's not for the good of the Democratic party -- they have their own major problems, are now completely out of power (despite the focus from Fox News), and are largely irrelevant, except for public statements, for the next couple of years.

GOP, the election is over: grow up and govern like professionals. That includes (among other priorities) looking at inconvenient facts and figuring out how to protect our democracy from foreign meddling moving forward.

Well, lets see. First, there were all sorts of public statements by Hillary Clinton complimenting Putin as a great leader. Then the Russians actively attempted to influence the US presidential election in favor of Clinton. And after the election, there was indisputable evidence of Russian leadership celebrating Clinton's victory. And then Clinton nominated for Secretary of State a CEO of an oil company that has lots of personal business deals with the Russian government.

Wow, after all that happened, I can sure see why you would be concerned about Hillary Clinton.

Oh wait, none of that happened. But if you replace Clinton's name with Trump's... its all true. Hmm... I wonder why you aren't concerned anymore???

Please refrain from calling this an election hack. This was a CAMPAIGN hack. It has been established that Russia did not seek to nor did they successfully alter, manipulate, or in anyway tamper with electoral or popular votes.

Drawing in to question both the identity and motivation of the hackers in this one particular case, one of many leaks, is such a transparent partisan tactic.

    Country ahead of party.

Yeah... where did I call it an election hack?

No one is saying that Russia went and changed the votes cast, that is an absolute red herring.

What Russia did attempt to do, and in fact did do, is impact the election by hacking into e-mails and servers and leaking the information that was beneficial to their own political goals. Further, their actions have already eroded confidence in the election system/results by Americans.

Next time it could be the RNC or another entity targeted.

    Country before party.

The RNC's servers were hacked, but they chose to not release that information. You know, because it wasn't done to further Russia's political goals.

Espionage is an interesting game. Countries try to set limits as to what they consider as "acceptable" & "unacceptable" forms of espionage. Military secrets, defense technologies, technologies with strategic implications, etc are all considered as "acceptable" & fair game for most countries. Anything outside of these realms, we tend to consider as "unacceptable", when certain Chinese individuals & organizations were caught hacking for commercial gains we introduced sanctions against these individuals & organizations.
For the OPM hack, certain analysts have suggested that the hack was to gain a database of US government employees and probably to help more targeted hacks in the future. As for why no eviction of Chinese diplomats or sanctions, the US government probably considers this as an "acceptable" form of espionage, I'd be shocked if CIA/NSA haven't already done something similar in China & Russia etc already, eg hack the Chinese equivalent of OPM and use the data gained to target Chinese with access to desirable info for blackmails, targeted hacks etc.

Leaks by people involved with the campaign or other Americans is very different than another nation hacking, using propaganda and paid operatives to influence and change the outcome of our democracy.

You keep mentioning China. It is different. Nothing on this scale has ever happened to the United States. The idea that people keep saying it's just business as usual is bogus and false.

Chinese hacks are mostly "acceptable" legitimate targets. Several years ago, our biggest complaint toward Chinese hacks are not the fact that they are hacking our military, defense contractors etc we absolutely expect them to conduct those hacks and we in turn are involved in similar espionage activities as well, our biggest complaint was that the Chinese also hacked private US companies for commercial advantages . Apparently after Xi & Obama reached an agreement on acceptable hacking/espionage activities in 2015, Chinese hacks for commercial advantages declined by 90%. I'm not aware of any accusation that the Chinese have ever interfered in our election in such a manner and actively tried steer the election toward a certain candidate.
