Let's revive the Mo Taylor v Juwan Howard debates too

Also was trading Rafer for Lowry really a good idea?

So, looking at the stats, do you still claim Parsons' production was truly worth the max over Ariza's reasonable contract? Mind you, this is not including actual games played, defensive ability, health and player availability, lack of diva attitude AND the money saved to sign other players.

If you truly think that, I think the revisionist history is being done by only one person.

The only way we would've matched Parsons is if Bosh had signed here. Imagine having Parsons, Bosh, and Dwight right now.

We didn't dodge a bullet in 2014. We avoided an atomic bomb.

DD only uses revisionist history when it suits him, ala any other Daryl Morey decision.

He is better in every way...yes........

Is it worth the max, is frankly irrelevent - it is about whether he is a better player, and it is YES at the time, and the league now knows Morey is full of ****, because he promised to match any deal, now they know he is bluffing.

Yeah, I've decided to just listen to Thomas Paine advice when it comes to unreasonable individuals.

Is parson still chilling like a villain on the bench with a huge paycheck?

Come on now. Parsons was every bit as good and BETTER player than Rockets Ariza. It

No he wasnt max contract better, but still better. Its easy to dump on douchy Parsons and root for humble Ariza.

That said, I'da done same thing Morey did. I'm not paying 3 times more for 15% better.

Parsons was better when it came to stats. Infortunately defense, health, consistency and playing within the system arent really discernible by simple stat watching or the eye test.

Its not like I hate Parsons, he was a fan fav and I'm not bitter he went to the Mavs. But if you look at it objectively Parsons was just good on the offensive side of the ball, from what I understand he was always breaking plays in order to stand out and always kept going for shots that Mchale didnt want. And its not like he was an ironman on the Rox either, he kept having nagging injuries lile back spasms and knee troubles while on the team.

Like I said they were at best equal in terms of playing ability, Ariza is as good on D as Parsons on O. When you take the salaries and health into account though thats where the difference is.

The Rockets made the WCF with Ariza as one of the best players on that team. They are currently one of the best teams in the NBA right now with Ariza still as one of the best players on the team. Meanwhile...Chandler Parsons has been irrelevant for the better part of these last 2.5 years.

Now...even if Parsons was better (debatable given the fit and needs of the team), his health is/was obviously a concern, and he was twice the cost. Ariza is the exact opposite, in that he's about as reliable as they come.

Only "slower people" would ignore relative cost, results, and future implications regarding Parsons vs. Ariza. It's okay to say "hmm...in hindsight, maybe Morey was right".

Thank God we have a General Manager who doesn't operate with this mindset. Do you want to be the Portland Trail Blazers?

Maybe they win the WC with Parsons.

10+ years only one decent playoff run....

Do not agree AT ALL that Parsons was/is better, unless you only factor in offense. Why is Parsons the better player? Cause he's better at scoring in different ways? That's not the whole game. The defensive gap between these guys is at least as wide as the offensive gap between them. Ariza over the past 4 years on average has been WAAAAAY better than Parsons defensively. WAAAAY. And while Parsons has put together some good offensive seasons, Ariza has been solidly good and consistent in that span, Parsons is not blowing Ariza away offensively.

Not to mention, even a healthy Parsons (or really most players) can not give you what long time ironman Ariza gives you - among NBA leaders in minutes, never quits, never plays tired, never complains.

At the same price, give me Ariza every day.

    1) No, DD. They do not. Parsons had knee surgery and missed those playoffs. You think we win the WC with Parsons on the bench? Cool!

    2) So yes, you do want to be the Portland Trail Blazers.

No, I want my team to KEEP the better players, and build a CHAMPIONSHIP team - even if it means having to pay the luxury tax.

I am tired of watching good players leave this org and us consistently bottom feeding and looking for bargains.

This year was the first year we actually SPENT money and look what happened....oh, and we SPENT it on offensively oriented players over defensively oriented ones....something I have been POSTING about for years.....and wallah, we take off.

I, for one, am not surprised.

DD, we acquired these players because we had the financial flexibility to do so. If we spend money on the average/slightly above average players you wish to keep in the organization, we do not acquire these high priced free agents that have helped us. Surely you understand the cause and effect of this. If the Rockets drafted true and proven difference making talent, they would obviously keep them around. But if you don't understand examples like Parsons vs. Ariza, where you have a guy making twice the money but only marginally better statistics (and much worse defense), then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

But once again...look at the Portland Trail Blazers and you'll see all you need to see about keeping "offensively oriented players" around for much more than they're worth.
