Anderson is good. He will stand front when other player are not on fire. He play really good to defence durrant
Anderson has never been a bad defender due to lack of effort, he has been a bad defender due to being athletically sub par in a position currently chock full of incredibly athletic players. That said, he will give you his all each and every second he is able to set foot and play on that floor and therefore come up with key defensive stops out of pure smarts and hustle, provided his teammates don't just leave him on an island.
What does this mean other than Melo couldn't guard Anderson or wasn't bothered to? Melo basically never plays well defensively. There is no one he could match up better with than a slow 3pt shooter. It's not like Anderson is going to blow by him. It's not like Anderson did anything new. Also, Melo "didn't play well" offensively either, and when Anderson was guarding him he was shutting Melo down. Anderson dominated him that game. I'm sure there will be times when Melo can win that matchup handily, this wasn't one of them and it wasn't just Anderson existing. It was Anderson defending him aggressively and consciously burning him offensively.
I'm not disagreeing with you. This year his defense has been bad. However he should have been able to contain Anderson hence my comment.
Oops I totally misread it. Sorry I was on the Knicks board earlier and it's so irritating how those guys are delusional about the relevance of their team or the productivity of Melo.
Which is more than adequate. I've seen him come up with huge rebounds and put backs time and time again. His deadly long range bomber to save the day is why he is paid.
Andersons abilty to score and score many quickly against ANY opponent when he's hot is what makes him a keeper. Rockets will need his presence come playoffs. Hes got the threat to cut down a 10 point deficit in the blink of an eye.
I've definitely changed my mind on Anderson, he stopped being so inconsistent every game and is putting effort on D and Rebs. He even increased his pt average to 14.2, which is acceptable for a 3rd option. Right now I think his play has been good enough to warrant his salary, and I wouldn't trade him unless we get an all star player back. If he can increase hit avg output by 2 more pts while maintaining his accuracy I'd say we're set at PF lol.
We know Ryan's road vs home discrepancy... namely 3PT%. It's currently .304 vs .487 The continuance of this trend might bode well. Role players tend to play worse on the road. By shooting well away from TC, Anderson picks the slack a team usually loses. At home, he still offers great spacing and lesser players can pick up the slack by their naturally playing better at home. His road advantage outweighs his home disadvantage.
Lol didn't seem to phase the rockets for breaking the record for my 3's in a game in NBA history and it was at home
