I'd still consider that domestic terrorism. We've been sensitized to think that terrorism means that it's someone affiliated with the Muslim religion or a Middle Eastern person. Thats not the case. Any kind of mass murder in a public place where hundreds of people are, is terrorism, in my book.
Domestic terrorism, meaning just some dude that wanted to terrorize the population. May not be the textbook definition, but the same, nonetheless.
Not that I agree or disagree, but there are those who want the protection the moment they leave the secure side of the terminal. This could be for a variety of reasons, including law officers. It really doesn't matter. That part of the airport is not considered a gun free zone.
While in the military he said he was working for ISIS and got put into psychiatric care. FBI says not terrorism. Other reports claiming mental health issues which seems probable since he just murdered a bunch of strangers.
Yes. TSA isn't checking you for weapons because of what you might do in the terminal, but rather what you could do on a plane. The 9/11 highjackers took 3 planes successfully, and nearly a 4th with box cutters. You are allowed to have a gun in the airport, as long as you do not pass the security checkpoint. Unless you moved security to the front door, wouldn't people just walk through the front door and do this if they wanted to? What harm does checking a bag do when passengers can't access that portion of the plane?
FBI really needs to get their crap together. Literally came to them. I wish Obama would have done a little for the mental health programs of the country after sandy hook. He would have had a ton of political capital for a concerted public effort.
he said no to the call to action the president never made instead doubling down on impossible to enact gun legislation? pathetic excuse there Lou. Meanwhile mental healthcare is still miserable and the president got nothing from the full effort to strip unrelated gun rights instead of fix problems.
Addressing mental health issues is counter productive to the advancement of stripping away the 2nd amendment.
More should be done to address the mental heath problem. And its still early in the investigation, but obvious questions about the gun (when it was purchased, what background checks, etc) should be answered.
I'm eager to see how the GOP health care legislation that they will use to replace Obamacare addresses the mental health problem.
Apparently he told the FBI he was hearing voices and the FBI, after checking his bkground and I assume deem him not dangerous, sent him to a mental facility - where he checked himself in. If that's the cause, it's not completely on the FBI. What happen at that mental institution? Is the FBI suppose to now also be a mental facility? Or perhaps there should be closer loop between mental institution and FBI... and maybe people deem mentally unstable (hearing voice count i pretty sure) should have all their gun rights revoked.
