James Harden finished the MVP voting with 61 out of 90 votes, followed by Westbrook (18), James (6) and Durant (5).

Despite all of Westbrook’s exploits, Harden is the leader for the award — something that was reinforced by the Post’s utterly unscientific straw poll of a combination of 90 coaches, scouts, executives and media members from across the NBA universe the past two days.

While Harden emerged well ahead in the poll, virtually everyone who submitted a vote said they had a tough time deciding between two or more of the four leading candidates: Harden, Westbrook, Durant and LeBron James. Harden finished the voting with 61 out of 90 votes, followed by Westbrook (18), James (six) and Durant (five).

Do you vote for the statpadder and ballhogger, or the winner and leader? Easy choice.

Maybe except for some sections of the media that love a quick headline... "Zomg anuvva tripple dubble wowweee he goat"

Go Harden. Go Rockets. Keep winning until there's no room for debate!

I think Harden can pump his stats to make them look even more impressive if he were to be really interested in doing that. Instead, the beard is trusting his teammates with a mission to win more games. That's why people cannot ignore team record. Hands down, the beard.

Harden deserves it but lets not trash Westbrook. Westbrook has been amazing this season. Triple double average in the modern NBA is crazy. Olapedo is the second best player on the team and they are a solid playoff team. Westbrooks greatness just shows how much more amazing Harden has been so far this season.

I appreciate the praise for Harden, but this is dumb analogy. It proves that Coward doesn't even watch games lol Harden shoots way less this year???? He took 18 shots a game last year compared to 17 this year. Hardens game hasn't changed, he has better shooters on the wings now that can make the shots now. Harden was great last season.....the media missed out because of their bias

I disagree with those voting for Westbrook, but I get why they would.

Voting for Lebron or Durant, however, is silly.

Westbrook reminds me of Chris Paul.

Way too much control from one guy to win a championship.

In the playoffs it's easy to defend one guy.

Can't even believe Durant got votes.

He goes from an upper middle team last year to the team that beat his, then makes that most historically overhyped team marginally worse.

Sounds like an MVP story to me.

This. The amount of criticism Westbrook is getting in the media and from many here is quite insane. Let's stay humble and let's not forget that Westbrook really does not have a great supporting cast.

Westbrook's style of play - which they are criticizing - wasn't that much different even when he had KD... so there's that

They're better offensively than last year and the same defensively.

His supporting cast is not that much worse than Harden's, if at all.

Kanter/Adams is one of the best big man combos in the NBA. Roberson is one of the best defenders in the NBA. Oladipo has been hurt but he's very solid. Donovan is a solid coach. Obviously he's carrying them, but it's not as if he's not playing with a bunch of scrubs.
