It's kind of crazy that after all of the b****ing, moaning, and conspiracy talk about the Texans naming Brock Osweiler the starting QB for the playoff game it ends up that Savage doesn't even clear the concussion protocol in order to even be active for the game.
Good QBs throw their receivers open by anticipating throws, throwing to spots on the field, and timing routes. Very rarely does a receiver just "get open" in the NFL.
That's completely false, but we know what narrative you are pimping out here so it's not terribly surprising. Good WR's get open, Nuk in previous seasons did that, he hasn't done it much this season and you can't blame that on anyone else.....or rather you can, but people should laugh at you for it.
He can make the right reads and throw accurately. Hopkins has proven he'll do the rest and doesn't need tons of separation
The "right read" this season is almost never throwing the ball to Nuk because he hasn't been getting open. I would agree that the team would have been better off if Osweiler made the correct read and didn't throw it to Nuk much until he started to do his job and get open......and if he kept having trouble catching passes that hit him in the hands, stop throwing it to him altogether.
I think the coaching staff got the speed they wanted on offense and went crazy with the playcalling. They called intermediate Edelman-like plays for Hopkins and let Fuller go free. Hopkins was running different routes last year.
I'll watch the game of course, but apathy has set in for me when it comes to this team. I really don't care what happens tomorrow.
Based on this clip - would you say this interception is strictly Brock's fault? Or is Hopkins also partly to blame? Brock's throw IS inaccurate, but Hopkins sees his QB scramble and does very little to create separation or help prevent the INT.
That was was almost entirely on Brock in that it was thrown very poorly, but a good receiver would have reacted to the pass quicker and would have continued to take that one more step to where he'd have caught it. If you look at the play, the DB likes like 4 or 5 steps with the ball in the air getting in position and Nuk takes none in the right direction and barely gets his hands up before the ball is on him. There are much better examples of Nuk making mistakes causing interceptions out there though. I'd put like 90% of the blame on Osweiler here.
Hopkins does have weaknesses, and yes separation is one of them. But I'll still come back to the fact that he has been dominant with every other QB he has played with, even Mallet.
We can blame Brock, we can blame the coach, we can blame the GM. There is a long list of people to put blame on but Hopkins is not on that list. Not only is he playing on a cheap contract with no extension, he refused to throw his QB under the bus.
LOL... wow it does seem like that.. To clarify, i think Brock at this point in his career is a TERRIBLE QB. My only argument is that you cant place 100% blame on him alone.
Sure, some people aren't willing to blame Nuk for his bad play, that's pretty obvious, but if you aren't willing to blame him for his bad play, I can't take you seriously when you try to blame others for their bad play. Either consistently blame people for their own poor play or just admit you don't know enough about football to say one way or the other who is messing up. It's okay, no one will judge you for that kind of honestly. Certainly not as much as they will judge you for being absolutely wrong.
Yeah but that kind of thinking is beyond what some here are capable of. They want a scapegoat to lump all of the blame on and won't tolerate an intelligent opinion. You get used to it after a while.
