[Akron Beacon Journal - Jason Lloyd] Korver to come off bench with Cavs; LeBron James still pushing for another point guard “We still got a couple more things we need to do,” James said. “We got to get a point guard. It’s my last time saying it. We need a point guard. [...] Once the Korver deal is complete, coach Tyronn Lue said he will come off the bench and DeAndre Liggins will remain a starter because Lue likes the way Liggins defends opposing point guards. ↑ Mario Chalmers?
Maybe so. But they definitely imply he didn't get enough help whenever they lose. It's never soley on Lebron. But if he wins and Kyrie is clearly the best player on the court, it's "wow. it's amazing how great Lebron makes guys like Kyrie". Lebron has had more help than anybody not named Steph Curry. The fact he keeps changing teams is a testament to this
He will continue to happily pick up his check. He will not complain about losses, only about lack of touches in the post.
Gotta wait what kind of pick is going to the Hawks, probably Lottery Protected. Still, good job by the Hawks, selling their goods as long as they are still valuable. Making a first rounder out of a decreasing 36-year old is a solid deal. Meanwhile, Cavs are all-in and Korver will help them, especially with J.R. out. Maybe the Rockets can sneak in and get Dunleavy cheap.
False. Kobe had Gasol, Odom and Artest. You aren't taking Kyrie and Love (both 100% lotto guys) over Gasol and Odom. Duncan had Parker and Manu. They added Leonard to that later. Even Durant had Westbrook and Harden (all Olympians before the breakup). Fortunately most of those guys never had to leave a team that surrounded them with elite talent for the majority of their careers.
Turned Albert Miralles into Kyle Korver! Pretty cool deal! When does Houston turn Sergei Lishouk into a rotation piece?
Wait what? Kyrie Irving & Love have both been franchise players without Lebron. Gasol at best was a very solid player who at his peak was a allstar, Odom & Artest are laughable. There is no GM in NBA history that would take Gasol/Odom over Kyrie Irving/Kevin Love. You can't be serious
Pretty much...the Cavs are set at this point, they will not be able to make moves next summer anyway, but for other teams Korver is not worth a 1st round pick.
Franchise players that never reached the playoffs? But yet Gasol at best was a very solid player and he took his team to the postseason multiple times. Right.....
For everyone else, why give up significant future assets for established players when the chances of closing the gap on Cleveland & Golden State are beyond minimal, microscopic at best. Toronto has the toughest decisions to make. Go all in on Millsap, trading perhaps Patrick Patterson & a future pick and then needing to pay Millsap [in the neighborhood of] $30M / season with Lowry entering his own free agency. Toronto has to ask: as long as The King is in his prime, does it matter what we do or what we try?
Since the Cavs are moving MDJ with Mo Williams for Korver, that means they still have their 9.6M Trade Exception they could use to absorb a contract. So that is one avenue for them to get a PG. And they still have Cedi Osman as an asset. Of course they could also just sign someone outright like Chalmers etc.
The current state of the NBA is EXTREMELY frustrating. Rockets are having a really fun season, but the truth is that if you are Houston, Toronto, etc. and having historically good offensive seasons, you are hoping for a fluke upset and you probably need it twice. Warriors are like if the Bulls had Tim Hardaway, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Karl Malone all on the same team. Cavs are like if the Bulls had John Stockton, Michael Jordan, Mutombo, Karl Malone and a ton of shooters on the same team. It's out of control. I hate that Harden's prime is coinciding with the SuperFriends era. Durant going to Golden State is the most disappointing thing to happen as an NBA fan.
