BERLIN — A reprint of Adolf Hitler's book Mein Kampf, the first since the end of World War II, has become a surprise bestseller in Germany, its publisher said Tuesday.

The Institute of Contemporary History of Munich (IfZ) said around 85,000 copies of its annotated version of Hitler's manifesto have been sold since its release a year ago, when its copyright expired.

The IfZ initially printed only 4,000 copies. A sixth print run is scheduled for this month. Editions in English and French are planned.

Mein Kampf — the title means "My Struggle" in English — was published in two volumes in 1925-1926. Written while Hitler was in prison, it features autobiographical information about his youth and explains his antisemitic and extremist views.

Andreas Wirsching, the institute's director, said in a statement that concerns that the book's re-publication would promote or serve Hitler's far-right Nazi ideology have proven to be unfounded and that it instead has fostered mature debate about authoritarian ideologies.

The IfZ said its data showed that buyers of the book were "customers interested in politics and history as well as educators" and not "reactionaries or right-wing radicals."

Hitler's writing is ****. I teach his "On Nation and Race" in the "logical fallacies" section of one course. Do a quick Google search and you'll find many people using it as an example of how to make wrong arguments.

I wonder how they know this?

Good question. I think it's more about them justifying making money with this.

They could have looked at their other book purchases, spyware could gauge that and cross-reference it against fascist anti-Semitic posts or site visits. Inquisitive people from other literate countries are reading it without any sentiments of Nazi-ism, and it's not like Russia has a small army or short memories.

I thought they banned the book or something.

Anyone really interested in reading anything can sip a few electrons rather than chopping down some trees and spilling some ink over it.

It's not so surprising at all, I see the book in Italy all over. In every market.
People read and believe to much worst propaganda on the internet.
I don't think banning a book these days is a thing.

I was purely curious in how. Don't know how big they are or how they operate over there; i get that there are ways, but was thinking someone in the busn might have some insights. Knowing customer buying patterns make some sense, if they are large enough to have repeated customers and have access to those data.

Hitler believes we should study nature, coz in nature animals only have sex with their own species. . . . Oops, wait a minute. . . . Jews and Africans and Europeans are all the same species. To be fair, I think the Nazis had a tremendous bestiality problem. . . .

Hitler thinks we should learn from nature how cats just naturally kill mice and foxes just naturally kill geese. . . . Of course, horses and cows don't kill each other, neither do 99% of the other species.

Hitler thinks Nature is a female being with emotions and we should care about her emotions and make her happy. . . . Umm . . . that's stupid AF?

Hitler thinks men fight for women and the winner gets to make a baby on the woman. Like if I saw Hitler on the street and stomped his ass, Nature would smile while I was boning Hitler's girl.

Hitler thinks all culture came from one race, the white race. Coz u know, if you can't read any other language, of course you're ignorant of most of the world's literature.

Hitler thinks suicide is the best choice.

Or they could've paid for the book in cash at a book store. Seems like @AroundTheWorld has the right idea; that justifies the reprint.

Speaking of Mein Kampf, Hitler charged that “the Jews had brought the Negroes into the Rhineland with the clear aim of ruining the hated white race by the necessarily-resulting bastardization.”

Replace Jews with 'libtards' and 'Negroes' with 'Mexicans and Muslims' along with 'Rhineland' with 'America' and you have the general thesis of a modern Trump supporter.

Do you really think this? What I mean is do you really think someone who voted for Trump wants what you wrote here?

This forum is solid evidence. How many posters have a expressed a notion that liberals want to dilute the white population because 'white guilt' with dangerous minorites like Muslims and Mexicans? I'm sure you have even expressed such sentiments. I'm sure you've at least expressed the notion that liberals 'want' illegal immigration and Muslims to expand their voter base.

So many = maybe as many as 10-15? (I dunno, you tell me) posters here. Got it.

As for your comments on me and my thoughts, would you please quote me and link the quote so that all can see what you apparently alone have discovered?
