Not all Black, BLM, is hating on white. Not all White, Trump supporters, is hating on black. Vicious cycle of hating each other. So divisive.

    From Gizmodo:

A tweet shared Wednesday afternoon that linked to a partial YouTube rip under the hashtag #BLM was retweeted by Mike Cernovich, an alt-right author with a dedicated right wing following.

Cernovich was the first to use the #BLMKidnapping tag to continue the association. Though anti-white slurs are repeated throughout the video, none of the four assailants say “Black Lives Matter.” Nonetheless, Cernovich referred to the attackers as “Black Lives Matter activists.”

Police are investigating whether the slurs are evidence enough to designate the assault a hate crime. However, there’s no evidence to suggest that the attacks were coordinated by, in reference to, or a result of, Black Lives Matter or protests. DeRay, one of the most visible Black Lives Matter activists, has condemned the attack and identified photoshopped tweets in which he appears to support it.

    ----

Addendum for people who are pissed that this isn't being called a "hate crime" from the word go (this fact is taken from the comments below the Gizmodo story):

Dylan Roof, the kid who shot up the black church, wasn't charged with a hate crime until three weeks after he had been arrested, despite the fact that it was obvious from the outset and Roof never denied it. The fact that they are making sure their legal ducks are in a row shouldn't be viewed as an unconscionable affront to your whiteness.

If they go to trial and they don't get charged with a hate crime, that's when you should be pissed.

It's laughable that they aren't being charged as a hate crime.

It's all over the news cycle, apparently just not in exactly the way that you want it to be covered. Look, I understand it takes an extreme level of utter stupidity to be a blind Trump supporter and a person who labels every single idiotic action by a black person as being tied to BLM, but you're wrong as usual. It was a terrible crime and those idiots should spend a long time in prison but you're the one who immediately jumped to the political aspect of this in trying to assign blame to a group that you don't like so, again I ask, who is really the one pushing a narrative here?

The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (Matthew Shepard/James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act) was signed into law by President Obama on October 28, 2009. The law adds sexual orientation, gender identity, gender, and disability to the categories included in existing federal hate crimes statute.

The Act strengthens existing federal hate crime laws in the following ways:

    • It expands the law to authorize the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute certain bias-motivated crimes based on the victim’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability. Before this law took effect, only race, color, religion or national origin were considered in hate crime determination.

    • It eliminates a serious limitation on federal involvement under the previous law, which required that a victim of a bias-motivated crime was attacked because he/she was engaged in a specified federally-protected activity such as voting, serving on a jury, or attending school; and

    • It adds “gender” and “gender identity” to the Hate Crimes Statistics Act.

And Yes Ottoman...I do agree with you that sometimes legal action happens much later...But even suggest that these actions aren't a hate crime is incredible absurd...and defies logic and law.

So to clear things up now that we have some facts about the case.

    1. The MSM is covering it.
    2. #BLM matters have no connection to this case.

I think everyone wants to see the criminals caught and justice served. I don't understand why anyone would divert focus from the horrible crime and use this incident instead to push an agenda. Crimes this horrible aren't the place for that. It is a disservice to the victim and the seriousness of the crime.

Perhaps AG Sessions will have a different perspective on that.

Once the precedent is established regarding prosecution of hate crimes against white people, then we really will be a step closer to real colorblind racial equality and fairness in the US Department of Justice.

15 days to go, then we will see what happens next.

I realize the punishment is different, but really who cares if they did it because of race or not. It doesn't make them more or less of assholes either way. They could do it because they didnt like his sneakers and i would see them the exact same way.

    from FBI:

Hate crimes are the highest priority of the FBI’s Civil Rights program, not only because of the devastating impact they have on families and communities, but also because groups that preach hatred and intolerance can plant the seed of terrorism here in our country. The Bureau investigates hundreds of these cases every year and works to detect and deter further incidents through law enforcement training, public outreach, and partnerships with a myriad of community groups.

The only reason CPD thinks they can get away with not calling it a hate crime is because they know white people won't riot over it. Sad truth.
